How early do Division 1 teams normally offer a recruit?

I have seen threads on here about players going to the Class of 2020. My question is this: How early do most D1 teams - not just OU - usually start making offers to recruits? I am talking actual offers and not just letters of interest. Middle school starts in 7th grade, which would be Class of 2021. Does it start in middle school and is that normal or do most wait until a recruit's junior season?

I think Hook committed as a freshman. I assume that she had an offer.

From what I have observed. Most mid-majors will offer 7-8 graders. Bigger schools will show interest freshman year and start offering going into sophomore year. Unless they are really good most bigger school won't offer until high school.
