Just in case you didn't see, OU ex Chelsea Dungee scored 22 points in helping Arkansas take down the hated Lady Bears.
Thank God Sherry ran that malcontent off!!

She didnt run her off LOL

But that doesnt fit your narrative. Id like them to work on def instead of something that happened 2-3 years ago.

I agree, let's hope they are zoning in on their defense as a team. If we had a defensive mindset we could be a decent team, we have some talent!! But we just seem to run out of steam towards the end of the game and let teams slip by us. If we had the personnel we could reach to our bench, but that's not the case this season, but plenty of teams have done well with a 9 player roster and I think we can. The only thing standing in our way to make these changes are SC & Junior. I'm pretty positive CP3 and J.Stiles are going crazy thinking about our defense!

I started watching women's basketball the year before Stacy Dales came. We have had outstanding individual defenders but as a team, Sherry has always talked about concentrating on defense in pre-season drills but I have never seen any evidence of a stress on defense. I think the same stress is placed on playing good defense as there is on limiting turnovers.

This is her comments from this past Summer.

Chelsea Dungee, who played her freshman season at Oklahoma before transferring to Arkansas, tweeted Sunday, "This is not a political issue for those who seem to be confused. Instead, this is an issue regarding lack of support, racism, inequalities, lack of effective communication, abuse of power, and choice."

I would say that she ran her off!!!!!! I guess Chelsea's tweet doesn't fit your narrative.

Perhaps we could get Sherri to find Colton a job elsewhere. Might give Colton a chance to learn some basketball and get out from under mommy's wing. Then she could replace him Kellen Sampson. For certain Kellen could teach them how to play defense and hustle for a full 40 minutes. :ez-roll:

Kellen has been an assistant for 7 years at Houston working for his dad.

Kelvin's Houston staff is like an Oklahoma Basketball reunion. He has Kellen, Hollis Price, and Quannis White. They are doing a heck of a job. I watched them clobber Texas Tech a couple of weeks ago.

As for Colton, his basketball playing experience is HS and as a practice player. At least, Patty made J. T. get experience at other universities (Purdue and Michigan State) before becoming an assistant at OU.

Yep, I knew Hollis and Quannis were with Kelvin. My post was intended only to inject a little humor regarding the program. Yeah, I keep up somewhat with Houston as I was a big Kelvin fan from a defensive and effort perspective. Just wish he would have had a little more focus on interior offense more so than just his guard oriented offense.

But for certain a little Sampson influence would make for 110% effort and defense, defense, defense. I think Kelvin has averaged about 28 wins the last 3 years.

We don’t need legacy coaches. Go get some from UCONN, or Stanford, Notre Dame, some place where they know how to coach, when to coach and can get in the door of any recruit anywhere and have a chance to get them on campus.

Spock and I agree with you!!!!! The in house coaches are not working.

To be fair we do have to cut Sherri and the girls some slack for the KU loss considering we only had six players, with Madi Williams, Mandy Simpson and Tatum Veitenheimer missing due to Covid contact tracing

Sorry but I disagree. She is the reason that they only had six players. She has 15 endowed scholarships that she has not completely filled for over a decade. She started this season with 12 on scholarship. She had 3 opt out. Of course, she had 3 transfer out in the last couple of years. Now she had 3 with COVID which left her with 6. Just think if she had given out a full allotment of scholarships.

Few teams are able to maintain 15 on scholarship players on an annual basis as there are too few minutes to go around and several will opt out/transfer due to the lack of playing time. But for certain she should never have less than 13 scholarship players to start a season and she should have the full 15 at least 60-75% of those years.

What a drop off the last few years. Recruiting has been horrible at best. Coale makes over a million a year lol. These girls are bad. They are bad every year

I really liked how Vann played last night. As a freshman she's got something our more veteran players still don't have...a defensive mindset. Her hands were all over the place, and for her 5'10" frame she's rebounded well. Of course I saw good/bad last night, mostly bad.

I agree SC put us all in this hole and it'll be hard to recruit and get good players to commit when you have only won 21 games in 3 seasons thus far. Players want to go somewhere and win, rather than be on a team that's become an embarrassment (as far as wins go). I feel badly for good players like Madi, that may never see an NCAA tourney in their career. It's a shame. JC needs to stop worrying about money and do the right thing and cut SC loose. Anyone could do a better job than her at this point! He's clearly letting his personal relationship with her get in the way of making the best decisions for the program.

I sat there watching the incredible show last night, and was overcome with the thought of how ludicrous it is that Sherri has been allowed to drive this program from the final four to winning four games(if we are lucky) and Joe C has done nothing about it. That is the lone black mark against an otherwise stellar athletic director career. Man up Joe C.

On top of everything all division one transfers have been granted immediate eligibility as of today, so had they gone out and picked up some talented transfers in the off-season instead of sat on their bums like they always do we might have some desperately needed backup now. Many teams will benefit from this in our conference, except OU.
