Is Kur a legitimate starter next year?

Are you suggesting a frontcourt of Doolittle, Manek, and Kur? Have they been on the floor at the same time at any point in the season?

I have suggested this before, and I still would like to see it! Doolittle is quick enough to guard some opposing guards. He shut down North Texas' best guard in the second half earlier this season.

Sure, we could risk giving up some wide open 3s, but we already do that, so why not try it?

I thought that we should try this lineup in Waco when we were getting killed on the glass. Given how poorly Reaves was/is playing, we wouldn't be giving up all that much offensive production if we try it in short spurts. I think it is worth a shot against bigger teams and/or when our rebounding is terrible but we don't want to lose the offense we get from Doo and Brady.

Thanks for the info...
My wish is another SF/SG and a post... since we got a FR Pg and the Phillips kid

Wonder if the May-lay at ku will influence BT...?

I was wondering that myself. Then again, if the FBI investigation, notice of a “lack of institutional control” from the NCAA and season after season of scandals involving KU basketball players didn’t sound the alarm, I doubt if a brawl at the end of a game will do it.

No effect likely unless NCAA hammers them.

He was named MCDAA yesterday.

Meaning you think someone will transfer I assume?

That’s not a certainty but it wouldn’t surprise me either.

i believe we have had at least one transfer every year lon has been here. its just the cost of doing business at a high major. kids want pt

Kur is showing signs. He has the talent he just has to keep improving. He still rarely gets a rebound even though he gets his hands on the ball. He also has to get back better on the pick and roll.
One reason for teams trying to get a shot blocker is the rules not allowing hand checking on the perimeter.
Merritt is the big body type but he isn’t good enough so far.

I kinda like the idea of Kur being wide open around the rim because Manek and Doo suck up so much attention.

I'm suggesting more Kur and less throttled-wide-open Reaves. Doo at the wing, Kur and Brady in the paint, JB and whoever in the backcourt.

When full throttle reaves gets hot and we go to the sweet 16... its gonna be fun!

honestly I thought something akin to that when the season began. then I realized he wasn't just rusty ... he doesn't own those shots. he's just jackin' stuff up. now I'd prefer he was a spot-up shooter.

LOL. You mean the 20% shooter? The guy that can’t shoot against good teams? Haha. That’s funny. And by funny, I mean sad. Very sad.

I just see Kur as a high energy guy, a taller Johnnie Gilbert if you will. Players like that have a long history of providing good minutes for our program but they're not starters. I'd love to see Kur prove me wrong and take that leap next year.

I think he has significantly more skill and upside than Gilbert... I see him more like a Longar Longar type, except he has less skill than Longar and more athletic ability. Longar wasn't a tremendous athlete, he just had good school. He averaged 10 and 7 but had a huge impact on the team.

Kuath is a great athlete but he's constantly out of position and lost out there. Unless that improves tremendously, and he's had 3 years of college ball already to improve, then I don't think he starts or plays starter minutes.

His Juco didn’t even know he needed glasses. He’s had 1.5 years of college ball & started late in high school. If his hands can improve I have no doubt everything else will catch up. Also last year he had minimal court time bc of injury.

Kur should start this year ... bring either williams/Austin or both off the bench as 6th man as a gunner/scorer

If he starts next year our post play will be worse.

Again, I would say if he starts next year our post play will be different. Pretty much nobody is going to replace Doolittle. It doesn't even appear we are recruiting someone to do so. The team dynamic will be a lot different next year.
