Top rated NBA prospect in the Big 12... supposed to be the Big 12 freshman of the year, lotto pick, 1st team all conference, etc.

How does a guy like that only average 16 points and 10 rebounds per game in high school? Now, I know he averaged 4 assists per game, but the numbers are still pretty underwhelming. He averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds per game as a junior. Really? 12 points and 8 rebounds?

Is he a great basketball player or a great athlete with a lot of "potential"? Anyone know more about him?

It's the latter, he is a great athlete with a ton of potential. I know he had weak guards his senior year but still he should've dominated the metroplex his senior year.

So basically he might come in next year and have a Wally Judge or DeAndre Jordan type impact as a freshman? Meaning he could possibly suck?

Wally Judge was a MCDAA, freak athlete, tons of potential, etc and averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds per game for KSU last year.

I think he will have a better season than either of those, the flashes he's shown have his potential must higher than either of the two you listed. I expect him to be a contributor, but I don't think he will be a consistent game changer in Big 12 play (like Beasley or Durant as a freshman). He seems like the type who will drop 17, 9 and 3 one game. Then get in foul trouble and go 3, 4 and 1. Or another game where he gets pushed around by a team with some size and be flustered to the tune of 6, 5 and 2 or something.

I'm sure DFW will provide evidence disproving my theory, but I think he might be the 3rd best post option in Waco.

I don't disagree with anything soonersam said. I watched him in open gym some this summer and if I didn't know anything about him, I would probably rate him as the 6th best player on Baylor's team behind Dunn, Acy, Walton, Anthony Jones and Cory Jefferson in that order.

Now Baylor's strength and conditioning coach had these guys on a pretty brutal regimen. So Perry had probably never lifted weights like that in his life. The other five players I mentioned were used to the routine and could play through the muscle fatigue. Perry Jones and Bobo Morgan were clearly more spent than the other players.

The thing about Perry is that he has tended to really turn it on in the big showcases. He made his rep by dominating in Vegas heading into his senior year of AAU ball. This summer he dominated the Adidas Nations which included guys like Marcus Morris, Plumlee brothers from Duke, Chris Singleton, Renardo Sidney, etc...

So who knows what you will get. He's not lazy. He's just unassertive. But I suspect he will have games against big opponents where people are going to hype him through the roof. And then he will lay an egg versus Iowa State or someone like that.

Fortunately for him and Baylor, he doesn't have to dominate from a scoring standpoint. I don't think he's got the Kevin Durant killer instinct. And he may never have it. He's more like a Jeff Green. A very good player who has flashes of brilliance and does most things well- passing, rebounding, blocks shots and can score. But will never be a big time scorer because of the mental aspect.

He's a much more fluid athlete than Judge or Jordan though. His ball-handling is a definite strength. You can use him to break a press and you would never say that about Judge or Jordan.

DFW,

How is Dragan Sekelja developing? Is he ever going to be a player?

good athleticism, footwork and size, but something seems to be missing. Typical Euro type player in that he takes a lot of jumpers and doesn't like to play physical. And Baylor needs him to be physical or he won't get minutes.

Bobo Morgan looks better than Dragan at this stage so I think it will difficult for Dragan to get minutes with Bobo ahead of him and the depth that Baylor has in the frontcourt. I hope they redshirt him.

Those are underwhelming numbers, but I have trouble thinking he doesn't start. I don't think he has the instant impact you expect with future lottery picks, but I would bet he will have stretches where he dominates. He is a guy that might benefit from 2 or 3 years in college. I think by the time he leaves we will be glad to see him gone.
