Jo is not the quickest, fastest, or most athletic player on the team but, the girl is a warrior. She had some bad games following her injury but that's understandable. She reminds me of Caton Hill, possibly my all-time favorite player, because of her toughness on both ends of the court. She can and does get physical with the best of'em. She isn't afraid to take a charge, dive after a ball, go in for rebounds (leading the league in that category), push people around, and making shots when needed.

Because of the physical play that is common in women's basketball, you have two choices, either you get tougher or you sit and complain about the teams that are. Complaining is not the answer. We need to find more Joanna McFarlands for the future as I don't see another one in the program at this time.

We are going to miss her next year!

I agree. Sherri needs to recruit some warriors who will refuse to be pushed around and push back just a little harder. The game is getting rough and tough. Kentucky taught us that quick is good and we havent quite gotten there and now it's time to get big AND tough. The game has changed a lot the last three years.

Joanna has mentioned in her past few interviews "my last collegiate game." Do you think she could play at the next level? If she was drafted in the WNBA, I feel it would be late third round or so, but she may have a shot internationally.

Yeah, I don't think she has a chance of playing in the WNBA but I could see her on an international roster if she wants to play a few more years.

She's some kind of exotic pre-med. I think she's already been accepted to OU medical school.

I read that she had been accepted to Pharmacy school. I don't know if she's thinking of Med school as well.
Your recollection is correct - better than mine. Either way, she'll make more money than she would playing foreign basketball.

Really? Why on earth would they want to do that?:facepalm

Caton had a bit more skills, but Jo used hers better. Thank you Jo so much for coming to OU and giving us all you had.

When we beat Miami a couple of years ago to make the Sweet Sixteen, the Miami coach credited Joanna. She can be a force if her jaw isn't broken.

Awww my widdle freshman who got four fouls each game is all growed up and gonna leave us :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

:) i'm happy for her.

Jo is a warrior, no doubt. Jo is really going to be missed next year and not just for her basketball presence. She is a really nice person. :woot

I think both Nicoles are playing pretty tough. If the younger one picks up her shooting and the older one gets some more meat on her bones I will be encouraged about next year. Griffin will be a strong component of course regardless of whether she adds heft.

I'll post for Options here: "Then we are in big trouble"

I like Nicole as a player. She seems to me to be the epitome of a student athlete. Yes it would be nice to have CP back or Jo for another year but if she improves as much next year as she did this year she will be fine.

Agreed. I don't think a person on these boards thought Nicole Griffin would be our second leading scorer (11.5 ppg) this year, including me. She's worked hard to make the improvement she has and I have no doubt she'll improve next year but maybe not as big a jump. Her body type doesn't lend her to be an outstanding rebounder but I'm sure she can improve that as well. I'm glad we have her returning next year!
