These former OU stars are involved in the playoffs that began last night in National Pro Fastpitch. Michelle plays for the Chicago Bandits who shocked everyone last night by destroying Monica Abbott, the league's leading pitcher, 11-2. Abbott gave up six runs, four earned, in six innings. Jackie Traina gave up five in one inning of relief. They were the #3 and #2 teams in the league. They will play this morning at 11:00 on CBSSports, Uverse 643.

In the other game, Keilani gave up a single, walk, and hit batter in the first. But, Akron could not score when Keilani struck out the last two hitters. That was the only scoring opportunity for Akron as Keilani shut them down 3-0 on four hits. Oh, and the three runs that the USSSA Pride scored were on a first inning three-run home run to left center by Lauren after Kretschman and Pendley had walked. Those were the only three runs of the game. They will play today at 2:00 on CBS Sports, Uverse 643.

I wonder if any of that group have been stung a little by Erin and Patty's remarks about the reception of the freshmen by that group of seniors. I'm all for Erin's hope that the practice they worked to instill this year will continue of welcoming incoming freshmen and making them feel a part of the team and of the tradition.

I'm not sure Erin was speaking specifically about Lauren, though I actually don't know who she may have been referring to. Her remark may have been taken somewhat out of context. I believe she has indicated that Chamberlain is her hero and that the two of them are close friends.

Michelle pitched for Chicago. After being staked to a 1-0 lead by a second-inning home run, Michelle flubbed a comebacker that took a strange hop, allowing a run. The next hitter hit a three-run home run. Then, in the next inning, the defense completely disappeared, and the Scrap Yard Dogs won 10-1 in five. Michelle allowed eight runs, five earned, none that should have crossed the plate.

It turns out that this game is suspended due to heavy rain. They hope to resume play at 6:30 tonight. If they do, and The Scrap Yard Dogs do win, they hope to play the final game of the three game playoff series later tonight. Good luck.

I ldidnt get the impression that Erin was referring to one person or two but to the whole senior class. She clearly didnt feel the kind of welcome that she would like to have had. My guess is that those seniors were so disappointed at the referee enforced loss of the national championship to Alabama the previous year that they were fully concentrated on winning it in 2013. Probably didnt think about what the freshmen needed.

This is the truth. The 2013 team was loaded with virtually every starter returning. The attitude especially after 2012 was "we got this" from the seniors and returning starters. The freshmen felt kind of on the outside for the year. This past year Erin, Kady, Kelsey, and Paris went out of their way to make sure the freshmen were a major part of the team and created a different experience for the freshman than they had experienced. This was also on the orders of Coach Gasso who brought Erin and Kady to her house. Everyone knew they had to depend on the freshmen.

There are absolutely no bad feelings between anyone from 2013 both freshmen and returning starters. Erin and Lauren are best friends. Keilani is a close friend as well. Jessica Shults and Michelle Gascoigne were graduate assistants for multiple years with these players and are close friends as well.

I think it's a good idea to make most of the softball post OT or label them softball so people can tell when a new post in non basketball related...

OT?

The Chicago Bandits won their three game series with the Scrap Yard Dogs: 11-2, 1-10, and 2-1. Monica Abbott pitched all three games for the Dogs. The Dogs are playing the Pride right now in the first of a three-game series for the title. The Pride lead 1-0 after one with Keilani on the mound.

OT stands for Off topic... anything that isn't basketball related would be Off topic.

I would think any Sooner fan that saw the names Keilani, Lauren, Shelby, and Michelle would automatically know it was softball.

You would think. Wouldn't you?

Tonight: 7:00 PM UVerse 643 CBSSports cable.

Game two: Chicago Bandits vs USSSA Pride

If the Pride wins tonight, they win the title. If Chicago wins, they play tomorrow for the title.

Michelle Gascoigne may pitch for Chicago. She pitched the second game of the first playoff series against the Scrap Yard Dogs. She was bombed. But, she has the best ERA of any Chicago pitcher, and she might be the logical choice, even with only a day's rest. They might hold her for tomorrow.

Keilani probably will not pitch. She pitched in game one of each series (which means two of the three games that they have played). I anticipate that Jolene Henderson, out of U California, will start tonight.

The Pride's two best hitters, Kretschman and Shelby Pendley, have had zero hits in the three playoff games thus far. They have each scored once or twice after being walked. Kretschman was the first player to win the league's triple crown. But, she may be injured. They replace her after her second at bat in every game during the playoffs. Shelby just isn't hitting. They bat second and third. Wiggins (Georgia) is the leadoff hitter.

Lauren Chamberlain is the clean-up hitter. She was one for three in the first game of the playoffs, with the one hit being a three-run home run, resulting in a 3-0 win. In the second game, she was 0-1 with three walks. In the third game, she was one for three with a single that drove in the third run. Her last at bat in the third game was the first time during the playoffs that she did not get a hit or a walk with runners on base.

If the Bandits have a chance, it is due to the fact that Kretschman and Pendley are not hitting, and they are usually key.

I would think any sooner fan that saw the names Keilani, Lauren, Shelby, and Michelle posted on a basketball forum would request a softball talks forum...

Gascoigne will start.

Michelle won 11-5.
There will be a final game tomorrow.

Bandits win 2-1 on a sight I didn't think I'd be seeing anytime soon. They went back to back off Keilani.

There are those days. By winning the title, Chicago finished 500 for the year. They had 38 home runs this season. But, they had ten home runs in the six games of the playoffs. Go figure.

Keilani allowed three runs in the playoffs, winning 3-0, and 3-1, before losing 1-2. All three runs were on solo home runs.

The Pride, with Kretschman and Romero injured, had a very bad hitting series. Pendley was also not hot. They did mention that until the next-to-last game, in her career, Shelby was zero for Tuscaloosa. She was hitless when we lost to Bama in the Super-Regionals, and she was hitless in the first three games of this series.

Last night was strange. In the first, Kretschman and Pendley got singles. Lauren ended the threat by making her only out of the game, a hard grounder to third resulting in a double play. The next time she came to bat, she got a single, only to have the next hitter line into a double play. But, the next two hitters singled, but couldn't make it home. The leadoff hitter in the second, Goodacre, singled. The next hitter singled, but Goodacre fell down trying to run to second, resulting in a force out. The next hitter tried to get out of the way of a pitch, and it hit the bat, trickling out to the mound for a putout. It was that kind of a night for the Pride.
