I suspect that Patty thought the gamble was worth while. If she had pulled her who knbows what the consequences would be. As it is Kelsey should enjoy a huge boost in confidence and be prepared to contribute the rest of the way. Patty's action was a result of trying to get Kelsey ready to play because she knows how important that is.

What do you think about Lauren's chances of hitting 100? Over and under on 96?

I don't think that one successful start against a very poor team will be sufficient satisfaction for either Gasso or Stevens. Stevens showed some signs of recovery, but she is still a long way from being ready to face Florida. The most positive thing was that she threw mostly strikes.

For Lauren or Shelby to add another six or seven home runs would require a really hot bat. We have four games left, a regional, super-regional, and World Series, which may total fifteen games, that would be about a home run every third game. They haven't been doing anything like that recently. Someone needs a binge.

The last couple of times Kelsey had pitched she was a little better than before although they were for short periods until UNT. She's moving in a positive direction. I think Patty will start her probably tomorrow and she if she's continuing that positive move forward. After that she's probably only going to have an opportunity for an inning or two in the playoffs but that inning or two may be the difference in advancing and not, so I'm glad to see her making progress and confident that she will continue to do so.

You might want to review that statement, at least as it pertains to Shelby.

After the last game against Baylor, Shelby went through two North Texas games, three Kansas games, and an Oklahoma State game without a home run. Lauren only had one in that stretch. Had Shelby had two home runs, the target would be within reach. A six-game homerless stretch at this time might limit her to being only third or fourth all time.

Shelby has hit five HRs in the last 14 games. That's actually a little better than one in every three games.
