Kelvin Sampson to interview with Rockets

Good for him. I've doubted how good he'd be in the NBA, but he seems to have a solid rep going for him, so he's doing something right.

I hope he lands the job.

Maybe a dumb question, but what position has Kelvin been coaching in the NBA?

what position? he's an assistant coach. I am sure he coaches individual defense mostly. The guy is a very good coach - don't let some personal blinders affect your judgment.

I was hoping he would go the Clippers. They need a real coach.

Not sure where you made that leap, I was just asking a question with the preface that it may be "dumb". In OKC, Mo Cheeks works almost exclusively with the guards. I'm happy for Kelvin and hope he gets the job.

who says they divide up the responsibilities by position? I think you're the one making a leap.

Seriously? :facepalm

I asked a simple question that resulted in a response that maintained that I had "personal blinders" on. Then I provide an example of a team where an assistant is in charge of a specific position, but asking if Kelvin has a similar responsibility is a "leap". Sounds like someone needs a nap.

seriously? you ask a loaded question and then get all innocent when someone responds in kind? rather disingenuous strategy.

sounds like someone needs a brain. at least I know what "B" doesn't stand for.

Wow. If our team this year was half as defensive as you're being right now, we might have had a winning record.

I have a pretty good source that Kelvin is extremely confident he will be a head coach in the NBA next year.... this comes as no surprise.

and what, exactly, do you think the insinuation is within the following:

Maybe a dumb question, but what position has Kelvin been coaching in the NBA?

is it really so far down the chess game to pre-empt the advancing line?

the other lines were direct responses to B

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about, I've said it a million times, I love Kelvin and he is probably my favorite coach that OU has had because he got us through some tough years when the Oklahoma media and the Sutton's were out to destroy OU basketball.

I asked what I thought was a pretty straight-forward question, I'll rephrase it, what is Kelvin's responsibility with the Bucks as far as his coaching duties are concerned? Hopefully that comes off as less "loaded" as I wish Kelvin nothing but success in his future endeavors. Amazing.

I said "dumb" because it might be common knowledge to many on here, not as some hidden ruse to spark anti-Kelvin discussion.

Well, since its lunch I decidede to look for myself. Here is the answer:

"Running down Sampson’s resume, it’s almost a no-brainer that the Cavs are the first team publicly attached to inquiries of his availability. San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and GM R.C. Buford are ardent fans, and he spent the 2009-10 season working extensively with Brandon Jennings under Bucks coaching wizard Scott Skiles."

I don't backtrack on that one ... spent too much time in a foxhole with loaded anti-Kelvin sentiment flying overhead.

fair enough, but I don't think this was loaded anti-Kelvin sentiment

Oh well, never-the-mind, I get your angle
