That was for you, buddy! Gritty and grinding. Fighting like crazy fools.

That was vintage: heart, hustle, hardwood.

Boom Soon

The difference is ou would have probably won 49-46 under kelvin

Interesting to hear the announcers quote Joe C. as saying that Houston was cooperative during the Thomas waiver process, that they didn't object or obstruct.

Yep, brings back some good memories.

Wins are beautiful, even when you grind them out.

I think the 2014-15 Sooners have the capabilities to win games in different ways.

But, but, we had some insiders just SWEAR that Kelvin and Houston were blocking the process. :ez-roll:

Which makes it more baffling why the NCAA waited until tipoff of game 1 to rule him eligible. It would have been nice to work him into the exhibition games.

It's really time to put Kelvin to bed, his hands are totally off this program at this point.

Why? He was a great coach here and came back and coached the legends game. He is a Sooner just like the rest of us. :OUbball-logo:

Consider me in the camp that would much rather give props to Kruger than even think about mentioning Sampson.

Kelvin did a good job at ou, but make no mistake, it was a job. He is not a sooner, like us fans. Like most coaches, he has no allegiance to a school unless he coaches there and/or graduated from there.

the premise of this thread is kind of disrespectful to Lon imo. Lon has been coaching up defenses on the highest levels long before kelvin ever did.

I understand your point, but I think you overstate it: Is Tubbs a Sooner? He coached at other schools, but seems to feel more of a connection to OU than any of those other schools. Same with Switzer, and I suspect Sampson feels the same (I have no inside info on this; it's just a hunch). Professional athletes also go where the money is, but many of them retain a connection to a particular team, even though they may have played elsewhere during their career.

Personally I think he was a Sooner and is a Cougar and it is time to move on. He was a Sooner but not a great Sooner thanks to how he chose to end his Sooner career. He is best forgotten/

Don't get me wrong, I have been big fans of all our coaches in my lifetime; Tubbs, Sampson, even a huge Capel apologist. I really am a fan of what Lon is doing, building a team the right way from very little talent on campus when he arrived. I just took the post the wrong way I guess, yesterday's win had everything to do with what Lon has built and very little of what Sampson had left behind.

I understand. I didn't mean it that way.

So I assume you think Switzer is "forgotten" for the way he treated the football program in the end (allowing cocaine dealers and guns to be fired in the dorms).

Some of you people amaze me! The guy won big, recruited quality kids, and was loyal to Oklahoma for many years. He got in trouble for breaking an archaic rule and left for Indiana. Was that bad? Breaking the rule? Yes. Leaving for Indiana? I don't blame him too bad for that - the fan support here was very poor for the quality of product consistently put on the floor.

Coach Sampson should be remembered and revered for the great things he did for this program!

Just because a coach leaves doesn't mean he wasn't a Sooner.

I consider Billy and Barry both Sooners. Some of them retain deeper ties to the school and community than others. You don't just disown a coach because they left. Coaches need to change positions throughout their careers in most cases.

I appreciate what Kelvin did for OU but I wouldn't put him up there with Billy and Barry. From what I hear coach Lon will be going back to Vegas when he is done here. That's cool. I dont hold that against him at all. Some embrace it here while some treat it as more of a job. I just look for them to put their heart into it while wearing C&C.
