Maybe you are correct but that will mean the bottom half of the conference is pretty bad. Texas just shouldn't be very good. They lost Kabongo, Lewis, McClellan, Bond and Papapetrou from a team that wasn't good last year. They posted a losing record in Big XII play.
Basically they returned Felix, Holmes, Holland, Lambert, Ridley and Ibeh. Felix is the only guy that played starter minutes averaging 29 per game. Ibeh only averaged 9.7 minutes per game. The others had pretty respectable playing time in the 17-21 minute range. Those guys combined to average 28.1 ppg. They might be descent on the boards because Holmes, Lamber, and Ridley all had fairly solid rebounding numbers for the minutes played.
I suspect Texas is actually learning to practice. That may sound crazy but they are so young the coaches are likely struggling to run a good practice. If Barnes posts a .500 record in Big XII play he did a great job, possibly even Big XII coach of the year level (but he won't get it with a .500 record).
