Kuar Kauath

Why do so many people on this board like to pretend that Kelvin was fired? It's one of the oddest things about this board.

I'm sorry....politely advised to seek another coaching destination.

Are you insane? He got offered a job at a blue blood program. That's hardly being shown the door. Was Bill Self also fired when he left Tulsa for Illinois?

Negative. Ou did not want KS to leave. We were on the precipice of being what Florida became under donovon. KS was doing big things with less talented players just think what he could have accomplished with a few top 5 classes.

I didn’t realize Kuath had a class to finish this summer before he gets to OU. James Hale posted an article saying Kur wouldn’t get to Norman until August. That probably cinches him redshirting this upcoming season.

If we signed a JUCO player that we're going to redshirt, I would rank that as the worst move of this recruiting cycle, by far.

Oh, come on! 20 years ago, we signed Oleg Retzov out of JUCO, redshirted him, and look how that turned out! Ok, point taken 🙂.

You are absolutely wrong. Kelvin was "encouraged" to find another opportunity to appease the NCAA.

If it is, it's only because signing Reynolds, Calixte, and Reaves were great moves. I don't see anything wrong with redshirting a JUCO player. He's really raw and not very strong but is extremely gifted athletically. He'll need the year to get stronger so he can compete in the Big 12 and probably wouldn't play much anyway.

It beats signing someone like Lazenby who's just going to sit on the bench and play 2 minutes in every 4th game or so. Kuath will be a regular contributor in the 2 years following his redshirt and the team will get more out of him than if he plays this year.

Agree. They very well might have signed it him with the expectation that he'd use this year to develop and get stronger, then play a key role after Muni graduates.

Agreed. I like the idea of redshirting Kauth. He might help us next season on defense by blocking and changing a few shots. He has a long way to go to be a factor on offense. A season to develop his game and get stronger physically is exactly what he needs.

I’m one who didn’t think Polla should be redshirted last season. I was wrong. He was a prime candidate, just as Kauth is this season. Much of the time Hannes spent mostly on the bench was a virtual waste.

If a Top 20 Juco prospect nationally isn't ready to contribute when he steps foot on campus, something is wrong.

Nah that’s just speaks to the lack of talent at the juco level these days.

Wrong... some guys are total projects when they go into the NBA. Kruger chose to take a guy who isnt ready like Kuath instead of more polished guys like Miricevic, Juiston, etc.

The source of the player has nothing to do with it.

This. There are plenty of JUCO's that could step in and immediately help OU's team. Instead we recruit another project. LK is becoming more and more like Capel, in that 1/3 of the roster is made up of guys that have to improve quite a bit to even be average contributors.

Jamuni, Polla, Kuath, and Freeman were not ready to play. Polla and Kuath still arent apparently. Jamuni took about 3 years, and we are super excited about him and he averages 6 points and 5 rebounds per game in his best season. Just tells you a little about where we are here.

The two of you would run the sorriest program in NCAA history.

+1. Usually if you went to JUCO in the 1st place means you probably got some baggage. Baylor takes a bunch of questionable characters and there are tons of stories out there about Hoiberg when he was at ISU about how players wouldn't show up to practice but still play. I trust Lon and his philosophy over some of these Henry Hindsights.
