resigning.... shake is probably wishing he would have come here. I really wanted shake.
Here's the link. Are there any recruits that Oklahoma is looking at that are considering SMU?

His Mustangs program underwent an NCAA investigation last year centered around academic improprieties involving former player Keith Frazier, resulting in a self-imposed postseason ban for the 2015-16 season.
..........
He also coached at Kansas and UCLA. He led the Jayhawks to the 1988 NCAA title, but the program was banned from postseason play the following season and placed on probation for three years due to recruiting violations. UCLA also incurred a postseason ban and two years of probation for using ineligible players while Brown was coach.
He leaves a bit of a sleazy legacy. Probation at every college he coached.
While SMU has won 25 or more games in each of Brown’s final three seasons as coach, it’s easy to see why the school might be hesitant to offer him a longterm extension. He’ll be 76 years old in September, he has already run afoul of NCAA rules over and his program is in jeopardy of facing further punishment in the coming years over poor APR scores.
Brown’s resignation ends an era at SMU that followed a similar pattern as his first two forays into college basketball at Kansas and UCLA did more than a quarter century ago: Spectacular success, followed quickly by severe NCAA violations and a hasty exit.
Brown led UCLA to the 1980 national title game, but the Bruins were put on probation for two years after the NCAA found players had received impermissible benefits. Brown led Kansas to a national title in 1988, but the Jayhawks were banned from postseason play the following year due to recruiting violations.
Brown has the uncanny knack of scooting out through the back door of a college hoops program as the NCAA cops are about to enter through the front door.
He is a sleazebag, but he can coach. Maybe he can get on at a Juco.
He's 75. He did his job there, turned a moribund program into a winner. Their fans can't have any complaints.
And had recruiting violations and penalties for the school just like he did a UCLA and Kansas. Amazingly he has never been hammered for be the crook that he is. Very good coach but cannot play by the rules.
The story from Yahoo Sports ...

Quote from "Zombie Birdhouse" that follows the Yahoo article ...
Has never had one of those 5 year bans from coaching college basketball? If ever anyone deserved it, he did.
I don't see why they wouldn't give him the contract. You can throw everything bad that he has done but what he is doing trumps that. SMU was nothing before him and will be nothing after him. Unless he is letting his players get away with things that Briles did at Baylor then they should have rode that ship until it sank. Kentucky brought in someone that has nothing but baggage with him and it seems to be working out for them. Tech thought they could just get rid of leach and everything would be alright and sure enough...they were wrong.
To me...if you aren't going to fire Brown then why not give him the contract.
Good riddance to a true POS.
