Remember that year? alot of similarities to this year. The inexperience of the freshman, the lack of being able to lead by the sophomores, the lack of continuity on the court. All those guys had good college careers, and Bookout, McKenzie, and Lavender went on to win a big12 crown.

That team also started out the year 10-0, beat highly ranked Michigan State and Purdue teams, and if not for losing Bookout early in the year, and Brown late in the year, definitely would have been an NCAA Tourney team.

That team played hard. I'll never forget how hard that team fought against UT in the Norman and Big 12 Tourney games. One bunk foul call on Gilbert hedging cost us one win.

At the end of the year, that team was starting Lav, LMac, Alexander, Foust, and Gilbert. And before Foust blew up LATE that year, he wasn't starting, Detrick was, and Alexander was playing the 4, against teams like UT. Unreal.

Brown?

That team played defense, then had a ton of injuries, DeAngelo Alexander had to play 4 one game because of all the injuries we had. We basically had 7 guys practicing at the end of the year. This team has 15 healthy guys on the roster.

With all the injuries that team had that might have been Sampson's best coaching job. They had to use coaches in practice as players because they didn't have enough bodies. Didn't Ernie Abercrombie come back so they could have someone to practice?
