Sorry if this is a repeat, having some phone issues. Anyhow, Ty is heading to Oral Roberts. Go get 'em, Ty!
Ty Lazenby, a 6-5 guard who spent the past two seasons at Oklahoma, announced on Monday night that he will journey to Oral Roberts as a graduate transfer.
Lazenby, who is from Glencoe, redshirted this past season. In the 2017-18 campaign, he scored 19 points in 26 game appearances.
Lazenby, who transferred to OU after two years at Northern Oklahoma College, thanked his coaches and teammates at Oklahoma before announcing his move to ORU.
I think Smits from Valpo is a real threat.
Can Kur be our owens? Can Merritt be our owens? IDK
8pts is probably too much to ask but 5.8 rebs and 2.3 blocks a game?

Any relation to Rik Smits? I don't think I saw Valpo play this season, but I'd love to see another big - especially with the freed-up scholarships
Is Merritt still coming? Haven’t heard much since news about his dad passing.
his son
Good blood lines then. Dad could flat out play
He's not as good. He's declared for the draft but it's pretty common knowledge that he's going to pull out of the draft bc scouts don't love him. That said, he could help us a lot. He's a guy who could play 20-25 mpg & give us some scoring, rebounds, & rim protection. He'd allow us to give Manek &/Or Doo a break or play all 3 in a big lineup. The question is would he be willing to come off the bench even for a team that could end up making a deep NCAA run.
This team will have a really solid top 6 next year but there will be questions about Kur, Hill, Iwuakor, & Merritt. Smits would give us a strong top 7 & then the others could battle for playing time. We wouldn't become dependent on JUCO guys who didn't play this season or freshmen who will eventually be really good but will have to get acclimated to Big 12 speed & athleticism.
I really believe that adding a good grad transfer big who can allow for the gradual development of those other bigs could be just the thing we need to make a deep sweet 16 or even elite 8 run next season.
Yikes, he's a back of the bench guy for a dreadful Oral Roberts team as a 5th year.
