Sorry if this is a repeat, having some phone issues. Anyhow, Ty is heading to Oral Roberts. Go get 'em, Ty!

He should do fine there. He can play at that level, he just wasn't a big XII player.

Here's Eric Bailey's writeup....

Ty Lazenby, a 6-5 guard who spent the past two seasons at Oklahoma, announced on Monday night that he will journey to Oral Roberts as a graduate transfer.

Lazenby, who is from Glencoe, redshirted this past season. In the 2017-18 campaign, he scored 19 points in 26 game appearances.

Lazenby, who transferred to OU after two years at Northern Oklahoma College, thanked his coaches and teammates at Oklahoma before announcing his move to ORU.

I assume Freeman will do something similar - so does this mean OU could land a grad transfer? Someone like Owens at Tech this year would be ideal!

Tech got Owens and Mooney and we got Reynolds and Calxite - nothing wrong with the two we got, but, wow, Beard hit a home run with those two, while Lon's were more like bloop singles.

Love to see a rim protecting big guy - who even cares if he can score much - to bolster OU's roster for next season.

I think Smits from Valpo is a real threat.

Can Kur be our owens? Can Merritt be our owens? IDK

8pts is probably too much to ask but 5.8 rebs and 2.3 blocks a game?

Is Merritt still coming? Haven’t heard much since news about his dad passing.

Points and rebounds would be a bonus. I would settle for Muni from two years ago - unbelievable rim protector and a put back dunk or two. That's what I would love. I have hopes for Kur and liked what I saw from him early. Merritt - no idea, doesn't play consistently in JC, so I really am in the dark about him.

Any relation to Rik Smits? I don't think I saw Valpo play this season, but I'd love to see another big - especially with the freed-up scholarships

Good blood lines then. Dad could flat out play

He's not as good. He's declared for the draft but it's pretty common knowledge that he's going to pull out of the draft bc scouts don't love him. That said, he could help us a lot. He's a guy who could play 20-25 mpg & give us some scoring, rebounds, & rim protection. He'd allow us to give Manek &/Or Doo a break or play all 3 in a big lineup. The question is would he be willing to come off the bench even for a team that could end up making a deep NCAA run.

This team will have a really solid top 6 next year but there will be questions about Kur, Hill, Iwuakor, & Merritt. Smits would give us a strong top 7 & then the others could battle for playing time. We wouldn't become dependent on JUCO guys who didn't play this season or freshmen who will eventually be really good but will have to get acclimated to Big 12 speed & athleticism.

I really believe that adding a good grad transfer big who can allow for the gradual development of those other bigs could be just the thing we need to make a deep sweet 16 or even elite 8 run next season.

Agree - 100%. If they could replicate what Owens provided Tech this year, with Smits or someone else, it would vastly improve the outlook for the Sooners next year. To me, Harmon is the key. We know what we have with most of the others, but if he is as advertised, could be a good year for the Sooners.

Yikes, he's a back of the bench guy for a dreadful Oral Roberts team as a 5th year.
