Long to ISU

I went back and read a older thread about Long and everyone was kind of downplaying him (not trashing him, but saying he can't play point, he shoots funny, not as good as Doolittle, etc.). No one seemed upset that we'd pull our offer to him.

Now the story that Northbase linked to says he's the top recruit out of Oklahoma and he's a solid combo guard. And Long says he expects to play 20 minutes per game as a freshman and possibly start.

Are we going to be sorry we didn't get this guy, or are the Iowa papers just blowing him up?

I'd say blowing smoke. Very good defender. If he could consistently shoot it well then he'd a lot better get.

Seems like a pre-Mayor after he got it rolling up there type pick up aka a normal ISU caliber recruit...

Most of the Mayor's best recruits were transfers, if he did get a HS guys I'm sure he'd settle for a top 150 guy.

volume scorer, not a good shooter and highly over rated. Don't know what kind of passer he is because he never passes.

I know Long and his is a great kid. He will play a lot at ISU I'm predicting.

I'm happy for any kid who works hard and earns a scholarship. It makes all the work seem worthwhile. I also like that MisterF says he is a good kid.

Watched him the other night against Edmond Santa Fe...he looks much improved offensively. His shot still looks a bit strange, but it looks better leaving his hand.
