I'm not sure that match-up zone is the proper term, but it seems to have been effective against KU & TT. Have we played it previously this year or did we just execute it better in the last two games?

No, I don't think it's a matchup zone (here's a Wickipedia definition, by the way). I can't remember Kansas, but against TT we employed both a 1-3-1 zone and a 2-3 zone. The 2-3 zone did better, and we used it to keep Smalls from penetrating at will.

It seemed different from a regular 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone to me. When I think of the 1-3-1, I think of 1 girl being much closer to mid court than the other 4. We often had one guard perpendicular to the baseline, rather than parallel but not really pushed out in front of everyone else. We also trapped out of it more than a regular 2-3. Whatever it was, it was effective.
