MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Anyone know when Richmond is expected to make a decision? Usually the silence means we aren’t getting someone, but I hope I’m wrong. It appears our NIL game for basketball is improving though.
Lusk said St Johns is expecting to know where they stand by tonight. Other than that, no idea.

Seems like Richmond's camp went quiet after the OU visit. Reports have him being close to the vest so maybe that isn't anything about OU (here's to hoping) and that he'll make a decision either way in the next day or two. IF other visits are set up, then I wouldn't see that as a good thing and would hope OU would be ready to move on. Just my opinion but portal guys seem to jump on the offer they want once they get that feel more than checking out other places to then make a decision.

If you don't land Richmond, throw all of that money to a big. Roll with the guards we got. I think we are weaker at the 4/5 than 1-3 guards. Even if we land a legit 4 man that would be fine. Play small or move Moore to the (3).

Hoping for Richmond though!

Smith is significantly better than Miles and is absolutely a true point guard. Maybe Richmond is fine with that and would be willing to share the point with another guy who wants the ball in his hands a lot. But, I could see this helping us. Usually, when teams have two good point guards, there is one who is clearly the lead guard and the other assumes ball handling duties when the other is off the floor. With Richmond and Smith, would there be a clear pecking order?
I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I think the PG aspect makes sense (high assist numbers), Miles is a CG and would slide our to let Richmond be ball dominant.

Here is my Smith v. Miles comparison btw...it is closer than you think:

The obvious difference is the league's they both played in. How were the numbers for Miles against "better" competition? You don't have to look it up by the way just assuming the response.

Of course, that is why I have the multiplier in there. It accounts for team level. So you get penalized for KenPom ranking the lower you go.

Utah was Top50, so no penalty. High Point was 114th. so they get .9 multiplier.

Combo Score x Multiplier = Final Score

Duke Miles v. Top 150 opponents (Pts/Reb/Ast):

#83 Georgia - 15/3/2
#107 Seattle - 16/1/2
#110 W. Carollina - 25/1/6
#120 UNC Green - 13/3/2
#133 Ark St - 16/4/3

Dude gets buckets.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the info!

The logical decision for both sides would be for Richmond to choose a place other that St. John. Getting Deivon Smith and pursuing MItchell + Watkins not sur ehow that would fit for them. Their only pull is hometown

Knowing this staff, they'll wait another week...like they did with Pedulla/Garrison. It's pretty damn clear Richmond is still wanting more $.

What they should do IMO....

Get Dell'Orso on campus immediately and a big not named Reeves.

Or someone like Dell'Orso.

Edit: or really, just get some portal dudes on campus immediately.
