Mizzou getting all they want from Western Illinois

Texas and Illinois are going at it early on ESPN2

How often do you see a team win without a single player scoring in double figures?

Off night shooting, and for Mizzou that's a bigger problem than most, as it takes away the press, as well.

A lot of guys missed shots they normally won't and the ball movement was what you might expect from a team replacing a starting 1 and 2 and incorporating four new players into the regular rotation. A couple things need to be cleaned up, but there's no reason to believe it won't be.

Don't worry Sawyer, we had the same problem Monday and you saw how we responded

One other factor is that this was our first real game. WIU had played two already. I hate being the last NCAA team to play a game. We turn around and play three games in the next five days (including two in Mexico), which I think will be good for this team. Then the first major test comes on the 30th (Georgetown in KC).

We'll all have a very good idea for what Mizzou has this year very soon. Even our elite eight team had some games like this (lost the Big 12 opener that year to Nebraska, 56-51, but still won 31 games... this team is similar in a lot of ways).

Almost all teams have one or two games where they struggle with little sisters of the poor at some point in the non conference season

My favorite part of this game was that at no point did I expect to lose, or even feel like it was a real possibility (even when we went down 2 with 3 minutes to play).

It's so great to have a coach who's actually put together a sustainable program that pulls out these wins after years of a coach who lost these games (Quin lost to Sam Houston State in an even worse performance to open his final season).

FYI, Mike Anderson is undefeated at Mizzou in non-conference home games. Pretty impressive stat IMO.

Was that the popcorn game?

No, that was following a 32 point loss to Illinois (worst loss in the history of the series) later that same season.
