A lot has been said about Nancy and, of course, everyone knows ViVi and how good she is. Which of those two do you think will start next year?

Depends on the offense Sherri runs. If it is the same as today ViVi. I am not sure what is going at her high school, but she isn't the first option so not sure she will be able to adapted to the college game right a way to be a first option. Most of the games so far this year Sherri has wanted to establish the post first which I can't see Nancy being ready. If you had a player that stood 6' 9" would you not want her to be your first option? That is why I don't understand her high school coach unless she knows something we don't.

I just don't see ViVi being a bench player her entire career. I also understand that, in order for a freshman to start under Coach Coale, they've gotta be pretty special. I know Nancy has the physique to be special. I'd be thrilled if she has the skills to be special enough to start right away.

This is beating a dead horse but I'd love it if we started to experiment playing KayKay and ViVi at the same time. Could you imagine if Nancy and ViVi were in the game at the same time? That would straight up be an iron curtain at the rim.

I have no idea what Sherri will do. I wonder if the determining factor won't be defense rather than offense. And, there is the possibility that they would play together at least half the time.

We've mentioned Nancy's offensive skills in that she is a good free throw shooter and short jump shot shooter. She is also an excellent passer. What may be the determining factor is whether anyone would want to shoot against her on defense.

I doubt ViVi is in shape to play a whole game without substantial substitution. I think that's where nancy comes in. Treese also being available gives Sherri space to work Nancy in as she wants. Nancy is such a game changer that both our offense and defense will need to be changed once she starts.

That's a really hard question. Over the years we have seen that it is pretty hard for a Freshman to start over an experienced player.

I expect we all hope that Nancy will bring some things that allow her to overcome that, but only time will tell.

Who are some freshmen who started (in OU WBB) over experienced upper classmen?

Usually people we expect (or hope) will be franchise players

Gabbi (though there wasn't too much prior experience there)

I don't know that Nancy will be starting day 1, but I bet she is by conference time. The interesting question is whether or not we will change the offense for her. We tried various offenses other than our usual 4 out motion for the Paris twins; most notably the triangle. The results were less than stellar. We ran almost all set plays rather than true motion for Vegas, again with mixed results.

That said, given Nancy's skill set a high-low offense could be very effective. On defense, Nancy will be parked under the basket, no question.

I'm going with ViVi as the starter with Nancy getting good minutes off the bench. Nancy is a finesse player where ViVi is muscle and more aggressive. I think that gives ViVi the advantage.

I would not be suprised to see both of them start. Mulkey appears to be able to play away from the hoop on offense.

Also I think I have seen Treece playing along with either ViVi or Kaylon on occasion in the last few games.

You could have Mulkey with Treece as her backup and EJ as ViVi's backup.

I know Sherri loves her 4 guard offense but I think it will be hard for her not to have Mulkey and ViVi in the game at the same time.

I agree NC.
With Nancy coming in and the interior talent that is developing, I think that Sherri will have to play play 2 bigs most of the time. Treece and Nancy can both shoot from Outside. EJ and ViVi could play inside.

It sounds like Nancy is a guard in a 6'9 body... if she works on her handle she could play out on the wing and be a match up nightmare.
