Nancy starts

I think Nancy is playing better now than I ever imagined after seeing her the first few games/scrimmages. She has lots to work on but she can really be great in her career! They must have sent her to an outside camp/training to have seen so much improvement so soon since we know we have no one on coaching staff to handle this job! <extreme sarcasm!>

If anyone is still unsure if a certain poster is a troll or was just giving an honest opinion about Nancy's talent/potential, the answer is a resounding:

T.R.O.L.L.

I like this lineup. Nancy will only get better. I saw this coming over the past few games. Most impressed by her rebounding and minutes played. She and Dungee will grow while Peyton and Maddie provide leadership. Great move by Sherri.

I have to disagree, yes Mulkey has been better then most expected, but if you look at her high school stats for her size, or her play in the McDonalds All American game you can understand why some didn't expect her to impact the team this early like she has...

Now I will say that all that stuff about her not being committed to the game, and being a horrible person definitely sounds like it was untrue...

I saw Nancy in exactly two highschool games, the semi-finals and finals of the tournament in her junior year. I saw EXACTLY what we have seen in the past few games.

She doesn't always look like she is in control. But, she impacts the game. When she comes into the game, things happen. Suddenly the other team can't shoot inside. They take bad shots or make silly passes. Suddenly, Nancy's team is playing in an open court game, and it leads to quick ten-point runs.

Then, she went to the bench with fouls, and the entire game slowed down, and her team lost the lead. The other team discovered how to shoot and drive the lane.

She didn't score twenty or thirty. She impacted the game that made a twenty-to-thirty point difference.

I think she's playing a lot better these last couple of games than she showed at any of the high school games I saw. She affected the game when she was in but she looks a lot more fluid and comfortable now.

You can throw out the McDonald's game. That was a run and gun AAU type of game that Nancy was never going to fit into playing.

I agree. In high school most, not all, coaches are guard oriented teams, and don't have a clue how to use a true post player. I thought Nancy was pretty good in spite of playing in a guard first, post second offense. What amazes me about her so early in her college playing is her movement without the ball. She finds open spaces, and can catch the ball and do something with it. Whether shooting, or passing out to an open teammate. She's not a great shot blocker, but she will be, and as Syb said, she already affects the opposing team in their shot selection. She is really fun to watch grow in her role.

I saw what Nancy could do. It didn't seem to be anything that the coaches taught her to do. The team seemed almost unaware of her existence. She wasn't included in any plays.

What now becomes interesting, even this year, is that some people are beginning to realize what they can do. Maddie and Nancy have superstar potential, and they seem to be discovering that together. Peyton is beginning to bring her game up, as is Gabbi. I have been pleased at how LaNesia plays if Nancy and Maddie are on the court.

I was most pleased with Gioya. She had a very productive night with not a lot of time on court. She didn't make bad decisions. She did what she does best, and made no mistakes. That's a winner.

If Maddie and Nancy keep developing this newfound sense of what they can do, this team can be a lot better than people think. When they play well, they are awesome. Then, you just need people who do what they do well, and you can go a long way. If Chelsea were to settle in with this, it could be a very explosive offense, and the defense with Nancy and Maddie on the court is difficult to score against.

I always thought the team would have to take on the personality of Little to have some type of competitive fire... but last night when the team was down to start the game it was Manning who scored a basket then screamed out LETS GO!!! while looking at her teammates and towards the bench, then the team responded... It looks like shes finally ready to step up and lead the team on the floor.

Nancy only played 22 minutes last night and almost had a triple double, on the road! Pretty impressive in her 13th collegiate game!
