Nancy had a great game this weekend. I get the feeling her AAU coach uses her better than does her high school does.

To me what's missed most on Nancy is that her basketball fundamentals are very strong.
She's not a tall girl playing basketball.
She's a basketball player who happens to be very tall.

True. I've watched two games and a number of highlights. I have yet to see her catch a pass and dribble. She goes straight up. She tends to keep rebounds high. She doesn't bring the ball down. She tends to throw an outlet pass with her hands still fully extended above her head.

I have yet to see a situation where they were trying to feed her. They tended to use their guards to run most of the offense through. Nancy appeared to be an afterthought. She and Reese seemed to get their points on putbacks.

If you watched the Texas 6A finals on TV, you could see that Nancy's high school coach mainly just watches the game. She didn't call a single time out until the very end of the game. I didn't see her really do any coaching all night. Of course when you have 4 D-1 players, I guess you don't have to do much coaching.

What I did notice was that after a time out, Nancy, out of the game, called the team over and told them what to do. They came back to her and listened to her instructions. I had no idea what to make of that. Since her mother and aunt were basketball players, they may be the knowledge on basketball at the school.

When you have J Holmes at PF. It makes it alot easier for Mulkey. You have 2 players that need a double team. She is going to be a game changer. No easy shots in the paint, put backs, rebounds, and short jumper. Seems like players would want to play with her. She should make easier for Coale in recruiting.

Is Mulkey and Homles on the same team?

Homles and Dungee play on the same team

Chelsea Dungee (2016 – Sapulpa HS/ Cy Fair Shock Ogumike) is another probable McDonalds All American that will be putting her talents on the stage this weekend. With her playing scholastically in Oklahoma it is always fun to see her in the spring to see what she’s added to her game. She has always had that D-Wade gene of attacking in straight lines and finishing with contact, but her ability to develop her left, add the 3 ball, and improve her IQ show a consistent commitment to the game. If she is able to add a consistent mid-range she has all the makings of a go to player for Oklahoma in the near future.

Joyner Holmes (2016 – Cedar Hill HS/Cy Fair Shock Ogumike) is on a planet of her own athletically. She is tall, long, strong, and has as much speed and quickness as anyone in the country at either front court position. Her ability to face and make quick decisive moves to the rim are rarely seen in the women’s game, but it’s her ability to elevate and score around the basket that makes her even more dangerous. Beyond her ability to score when she has the ball is how she plays like all shots by her teammates are post feeds to her. She attacks the ball and finishes as well as anybody around. As her ball skills continue to improve there is literally no limit to her upside.

It can only be a good thing that both Cox and Holmes are playing with future Sooners... I would gladly take either one at this point...

You bet! I would consider those two as A+++ and A++. It really wouldn't matter which one we got.

On one hand, I don't know that Holmes has seen the effect that Mulkey can have on a game. Lauren Cox just went to San Antonio a couple of weeks ago and watched her Flower Mound team destroyed by Skyline. Never mind that Lauren had a great numbers game. Her team was destroyed, 61-34.

Then, she had the opportunity to watch how that same Skyline team was totally intimidated by a zone that Cypress Woods put on them. She got to watch the difference between Skyline vs Cypress Woods with and without Nancy. Without Nancy, Skyline won the game. With Nancy, Skyline lost by about fifteen to twenty points. The Skyline team that had run all over them was totally intimidated by going inside against Nancy. If Nancy had been permitted to play twenty-five minutes, the game would have been a thirty point win instead of a 57-49 win.

You would think they Lauren would get the idea that with Nancy on the court, she would have free rein to do whatever she wished for four years. Nancy will be the intimidator, the shot-blocker, the primary rebounder (if she chooses), and the one the defense concentrates on, primarily because Nancy is also a better shot than Lauren. Lauren has seen it. I don't know that Holmes has.

My BIGGEST fear when Nancy gets here is supporting cast. Current freshmen will be juniors so it will be very CRITICAL who comes in between now and after. In my opinion Sheri failed badly when the twins came here. Position 1-4 need to be filled with good supporting cast. We have a couple of good ones coming, but need a PG in a class soon.

We really did bring in help. But, we also had some problems. We brought in Amanda and Abi who were competitive for the same space on the floor with Courtney and Ashley. We didn't bring in the guard, DRob, until late.

But, we thought we had guards. We had Chelsi and Erin. But, we also had knee injuries to our guards: Kendra, Chelsi, Erin, Britney. If you remember, Gary Blair said he couldn't use his aggression against OU because our guards were too good when Brown was a junior. Then, they all suffered injuries or relapses, and we couldn't cover paper plates. It seemed that nobody that we brought in resulted in "being in addition to Courtney."

You're right. There are some great point guards in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 classes. Hopefully, the coaches can get a commitment from an elite PG to complement Ana, Nancy, etc.

We had a rash of acl injuries. I would cringe worrying about who would be next. Surely we used up the next 25 years of acl tares over that stretch.

Where do you find this? Every time I look, there is some site that wants me to pay?

Do you also get box scores?

That I do not get. I try and keep up with scores, updates, stats if someone posts them on Twitter. Those 3 teams are loaded with talent, will be interesting to see how some of them mesh together
