Nba Finals

My Mavs Homer-ness prevents me from ever rooting for the Spurs.

Heat in 7

Well that was crazy last night. Momentum swings all over the place the last few minutes of that game. Thought for sure Miami had choked it away, but they knocked down some big shots and SA misses some free throws and it goes to overtime.

Not sure if the Spurs have anything left in the tank after that one. Miami might steamroll them in game 7.

Think about all the things that went wrong for San Antonio.

Ginobili misses a free throw late. Leonard misses a free throw late. The Spurs fail to secure a rebound twice. Parker misses the last second shot in regulation. Ginobili is clearly fouled at the end of OT. Green is fouled (not as bad as the Ginobili foul) late in OT.

The odds of all that happening for Miami to win are very small. It will be interesting to see how San Antonio responds.

As rough as they were letting them play, I don't have a problem with the no call on Ginobili's drive. Was it probably a foul? Probably, but he did get an awful lot of ball, not much different than when Green stripped LBJ a few minutes before that. They were letting them play, so the no call was probably in line with the way the game had been called.

SA's biggest problem, even given all the stuff listed above, was that they didn't stick to the plan on defending LBJ. Too many times early in the 4th quarter LBJ easily got into the lane. The plan was to sag and force jumpers, or contested shots in the paint. They didn't defend him very well for about the first 7-8 minutes of Q4.

That is crazy. Allen had his arms and did not allow him to shoot. It is impossible for that not to be a foul at any point in a game. As I recall it, Allen didn't even touch the ball let alone get a clean block.

If officials let that go based on it being late in the game it means no one can drive to the basket for a shot. That simply isn't right or good officiating. Had Allen gotten mostly ball, I could somewhat see your point (although I would still disagree) but that is not what happened.

On the Green foul that is what happened. Bosh got the ball and got him with the body. It was a foul but on a last second shot they often let that type of contact go. I personally don't agree with it because I think the game should be consistently called all game long. If that is foul in the fist possession, it should be a foul in the final possession.

You need to watch that play again. Or I do. Because I saw it a few times, and didn't think he got "clobbered" at all. Just my take.

He didn't get clobbered. Allen had his arm across both arms of Ginobili making it virtually impossible for him to raise the ball and his arms to take a shot. It was particularly bad on his right arm.

It was an obvious foul and the announcers even said they thought it was an obvious foul. Call a reach in or whatever you want but it was clearly a foul and it clearly impacted the outcome of the game. It wasn't just incidental contact.

Bosh ripped apart green on the last shot too. Just hard to get those calls.
