New commit!

It is revealing that you believe that someone's evaluation of basketball knowledge is based on political correctness as opposed to historical experience. But, this isn't the first time that such tendencies have surfaced. The acknowledgement that there may be something that you don't know is usually concerned with wisdom.

It is simple. If one is so concerned about fan opinions that they perceive as being negative toward a recruit on a website that solicits opinions then their focus is on political correctness not the concerns that future rosters will have a manpower imbalance initially discussed.

A fan expressing concern about a recruit fulfilling a roster need for their team is not a greeting of/for a recruit but a discussion of team needs. Moreover it is my opinion that a commitment that can be influenced in any manner whatsoever by a random fan website posting after coaching staff assurance that they are needed does not have the mental toughness needed to be successful on a D-I level, too fragile and probably not needed.

So this is how we greet a new commit? Sickening. As I recall, this site was created because a previous message board became completely controlled by the negative people. Now this board has become that one. I'm taking a vacation from this crap.

Tango's recollection is spot on. The interesting thing to me is that the overall tone of the men's board isn't as negative as this one - unless Capel's name is brought up.

you guy make it sound like people want's Sherri's head :facepalm

Seriously, I have never ever experienced such an inability to discuss recruiting in a sensible way.

Recruiting is one part of Sherri's job. Just like Bob or Lon. If you guys notice I post recruiting notes about Lon Kruger's team as well. And when Avila was declared non qualified. The men's board had a productive chat about the recruiting loss of Avila
and some of the issues Lon was having with his JUCO and HS recruits.
This fall Lon ideally needs to sign 2 bigs and with one big wing. 4 weeks ago, there was only really
a PG (Lourawls) and Lon lost an in state big (Hammond) while finding an instate big
(Solomon Mitchell).
However, in the last 4 week, about 6 to 7 new prospects have appeared on the recruiting board and made visits to Norman.
Signing day will tell us a lot, but Kruger's potential class looks so much better now than before.
Now not signing two bigs, won't change how good a coach Lon is. It won't change how effective his assistants are in developing players.

But his roster will have gaps that may or may not impact on the court performance.

That's all I'm doing here. Pointing out that Sherri's accumulated the best deepest backcourt talent to date. I'm not sure how complementing her on her guard recruiting in the strongest terms possible and then wondering what is going at PF/C recruiting (since the hole in the roster after this year is so obvious) is being negative.

Very good post... :clap:clap:clap

You're exactly correct! The problem is the criticism is CONSTANT! It's recruiting bigs now but it's been lack of diversity on her staff before, her clothes, her shoes, whatever! It just moves from one part of the program to the other. Seems very personal to me. I sure don't agree with everything she does or says or every move she makes. I sure don't think she's perfect but she's had a team in the Final 4 3 times in 10 years and just won a gold in international competition yet for some the glass is ALWAYS half empty! I think she's earned a little more respect than that! Yet some continue to bring up Sulkey Mulkey as the greatest thing on earth, followed by Gary Blair, or Gigi. Just never ending!

Absolutely constant!

I'm not so sure that you are in the group that is perceived as negative. I haven't noticed whether you are one of those who criticize Courtney, Ashley, Abi, or Cloman as being overweight, or Nicole as being underweight. I don't know if you are one of those who constantly finds something negative about every move that Sherri makes to the point that it isn't really discussion. It's more like condescension as though they had some knowledge that Sherri didn't possess.

This does go back to the old board, and, basically, a few who have continued that negativity to this board. There is actually one poster who has posted in this thread that posted that I had flawed knowledge of basketball because I was a liberal and makes some references with political attitudes upon occasion. This isn't just negativity. It's silly. But, it is attitudes like this that cause me to question whether a lot of the negativity to Sherri is due to a belief that she doesn't get it because she is female.

MsProud and Tycat are correct in that the men's board isn't this constantly negative. What I find interesting is that I used to frequent other schools' boards. You don't see the type of negativity on the Boneyard or the Summitt that you see on this board, but there is some discussion of coaches and players, done with respect. There is a way to question without derision or without appearing to demean someone's capability. There is a way to discuss without belittling. I suspect that those who are most inclined to defend Sherri or to be positive also tend to question a lot of what goes on. But, it is a question asked with hopefulness towards an answer, not from a point of superiority that we know more than Sherri.

All very true, but that still doesn't change the fact that we have 3 post players on the team, and we have yet to see any sign that well be getting one in this 2014 class... If anything a post player should see the final fours and the gold as a chance to learn from one of the best, also any post we get would have about a 60% chance to start from the time she arrives at the airport.

There is also a way to disagree with someone's post without attacking the poster. I have warned about this in the past but it looks like some need a refresher. If anyone wants to discuss a post, disagree with a post, or agree to disagree, that is fine. That is what this board was meant to be. It was not started so that we all have to sit around and talk about how wonderful everything is. That is unrealistic because, just like in everyday life, most things are good but some things are not so good. It can all be discussed. No where in the board rules does it state we must all have the same opinions or that only those who have something positive to say can speak. Contrary to what some think, probably 90% or more discussions are positive anyway. There is no such thing as constant complaining. What is not fine is blasting posters you do not agree with just because they voice an opinion different from yours. That needs to stop.

Once again the blind faith and followers mentality shine thru for Tangled, Sybawrong, and MPS...
You mean like this? This particular poster announced in his first or second post on this board that it was his intent to drive Tango, MPS, and me from this board. You don't seem to object. The term is "moderator." Is that moderate?

It was a general comment to us all.

Boy, I get awfully tired of this crap^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.

Have to admit I have no earthly idea what Sherri has in mind with her recruiting but I will continue to trust her .I think the trust is more than warranted given her proven record.

My trust will not waver.
