New softball thread

Eighth inning:
Parker, swinging strikeout
Casey, hit by fair ball, popped it up, and it hit her in the head halfway to first
Ellis doubles to left center. Wild pitch to third.
Wodach Grounded hard to third.
We would be better off going up the middle. There is nobody there.
Still 2-2.

Brickey doubles to left.
Swinging strikeout
Walk off home run
We earned that loss.

KU opened up bottom of 8th with a double.

BIG trouble.

Well, we blew that game. Wasted opportunities. And even a great coach like Gasso can screw up, and she did, big time... probably cost us a run, perhaps a win.

Kansas wins 4-2 as a result ot two 2 run home runs. Whatever is said we did NOT deserve to win this game. We left so many runners on base and never came close to pushing them in. Runners on first and third and ZIP. Runners all over and ZIP.

I didn't see it (thanks cable company!) but got to give credit to the KU pitcher Pille. She appeared to be on top of her game tonight. Our players took a lot of Ks tonight.

About the only person that I am not irritated with about this is Paige. Gasso screwed up. Shelby missed opportunities. Erin really had a bad day with runners on base, a bad two games. She can't remain at third this way. Some weak at bats.

Well, I think we take the next two. Hopefully, we will be okay for regionals and super regionals.

We actually went up there from Stillwater. We had a day to get ready. What were we doing?

OU could not get a hit with runners on base. The squeeze attempt looked pretty desperate with no outs. The 3-4 spots were really bad today. We had runners all over the place in the 3rd inning and got 1 run.

We have commented about this before, (Gasso giving Lauren the green light on base-stealing) when stealing is a bit on the risky side for a player of Chamberlain's ability. Why risk injury to her? I just don't get it - - but that's why Gasso is the coach and I am another fan kibitzing...

Lauren doesn't have the green light to squeeze. That is a called play. If executed, there is no play on the runner, as she crosses the plate about the time someone fields it.

Yes, the squeeze call was all on Gasso. However, you would think that a player hitting .421 for the season could at least put the ball in play. I don't see the need for the squeeze right there. In fact, if Erin strikes out then you had Callie Parsons on deck, a great bunter for the squeeze with one out. I know she went back to an 0-4 Kady Self after Erin struck out. The point is that Callie would have been the best hitter of the three for a squeeze bunt.

You can't second guess, Gasso is right almost all of the time. OU just has to get ready to play tomorrow.

Curious to me that OU's bats are orange and black. Is it a visibility thing to have that bright orange on the bat?

Kansas is pitching Templin, a sophomore from DeSoto, Tx, with a 4-1 record, 3.89 ERA. It looks like she has only started one game, being primarily a reliever.

On SoonerVision, the only thing we can see is the pitcher's feet. OK. Somebody is finally behind the camera. Unfortunately, the only view we get is behind the plate.
Chamberlain walks
Already a conference on the mound with the pitching coach on a 2-1 count
Shelby walks
Parker sacrifices to third, runners on second and third.
Erin walks
Self doubles to left center (CF), Lauren and Shelby scored, Erin to third.
Casey, single on suicide squeeze to catcher. Erin scored and knocked over umpire. Pitching change with a 3-0 score. New pitcher is Monique Wesley, a junior from Fontana, CA with a 5.38 ERA.
Ellis strikes out swinging.
Casey out stealing second.
3-0
