KU looked like they could score at will from 5-7 feet out everytime the ball was tossed inside.
Without several new large or wide bods coming in how will OU be any morre competitive next year?
Capel doesn't seem to have any plan to compensate for lack of height or strength under the basket.
Unless he can turn to a runingun that can score 90-100 points a game how can this group of players ever improve to where they arre competitive?
NEW COACH, BETTER PLAYERS, NEW PHILOSOSPHY

Doesn't look like we are adding much size next year. Maybe we need to recruit more bigs this off season. But we don't have many scholarships to give.

Nick Thompson (dont renew), Kyle Hardrick (dont renew), and Cade (graduation).

OU should have two scholarships left, and I bet another player or two leaves.

Because we have so many people lining up to play for us now that we can decimate team chemistry and bring in those heavy-hitters. It's like we completely forgot how bad last year was.

Team chemistry? our team captain doesnt even get off the bench on a horrendous team.

61, you just now realizing this? The answer is a new coach.

I don't think Capel is the answer either, but I doubt a new coach would suddenly make our kids more talented. I don't think anyone runs the game like they used to back in the day. All our guys can hit that midrange shot pretty well, but it's either post or 3 in this day...

We don't need more talent to win more games.

There are schools every year with less talent then this OU team, that will upset 2-3 ranked teams, especially come NCAA tourney time.

Most of those teams play up to their potential, 100%, and do things that well coached teams do. They hustle ALL of the time. They rebound with effort. They play good team defense. They have a system on offense. I won't debate HOW much better we'd be, but if Sampson (or any number of coaches, but I'll use Kelvin as an example b/c we're all familiar with him) coached this team, I'd say that I'd expect at least a 5 game improvement, maybe more.

We are ranked 140 in defensive effeciency according to Ken Pom. That is terrible. That is simply a case of either not making defense a priority, or not knowing how to teach it.

What does that have to do with team chemistry? He's still there being a leader in practice and the weight room.

I'm not sure I can buy this. Since he was getting big minute in the non conference, if he was a big time leader in practice and the weight room he would prolly still get minutes. His lack of effort (as reported by a few on the board with sources very close to the program) is what is keeping him on the bench. That doesn't sound like a leader to me.

Then the coaches and players are idiots for voting a scrub and a walk on as team captains. But what else is new? I bet it felt good and made them happy at the time though, so that's nice.

What is a "system" in basketball? I see most teams running the same things, really. Pick and roll, ball screens, etc. It just depends on what the strength of their players is.

I don't get how anyone can elect team captains based on practice. I think you have to wait till they all play together regularly before electing captains.

Well, that technically may be true. The same guys could potentially win a few more with a concentration on defense and a bit of cohesion on offense.
