Kruger said he will not play due to the tragic death of his brother. Hope the boys play inspired for him tomorrow.

The circumstances surrounding his brother's death had to be a huge blow for AK. It definitely would be for me. Family comes first in a situation like that. Prayers for the young man in his time of grief.

That's a big problem. We needed him in this matchup.

He may have played some spot minutes, but his potential impact wasn't going to decide this game. Non-issue IMO.

He would have played big minutes. A&M has size, and we have no post depth. It's going to be imperative that Lattin doesn't pull his pick up 3 fouls in 5 minutes routine that he does way too often.

AK would be huge in this game. He would of played 10+ minutes for sure tonight. I somewhat trust him doing that, not so much McNeace

Agreed.

Not sure why people think a guy that's averaged 6 minutes per game since the New Year, with 8 DNP's (including our last game), and even lost the backup C job to McNeace late in the season, is somehow going to break out against aTm.

This won't be the first team we've played with talented bigs.

Lattin staying out of foul trouble is key #1 for tonight IMO. He and Spangler need to play well every game going forward.

It should be a slower paced game tonight as well. Hopefully Spangler and Lattin can play with few "breaks" for that reason alone.

The VCU coach said OU "could" win an NC if they can keep Lattin on the floor so you are 100% correct. He has to avoid the stupid fouls that plague him, and absolutely has to avoid 2 fouls within the first 8-10 minutes. We need him to play the bulk of the first half with 1 foul or less.

In the first half of the OU/VCU game Lattin and Spangler both played well and we got to see how well the team played overall. The 2nd half neither played well and VCU came back. Please, please, please let them both play well the rest of the tourney.

Because this is a matchup where we need him. A&M is signficantly bigger and mroe post oriented than most teams in the Big XII. Our starting Center is also a guy who is prone to pick up idiotic fouls in a hurry, and the only other big we have on the bench is not even close to ready for the spotlight.

Big minutes? He would not play more than 5-6 to spell Lattin or Spangler. OU is not winning or losing this game based on AK.

c'mon guys. There are a few teams in the big 12 that have just as much size as A&M. Even with lattin in foul trouble AK didn't play at all. His absence won't decide this game

McNeace or AK??? Simple answer AK. I don't care if it's for 2 minutes or 12 minutes. If something were to happen with Lattin I would much rather have AK out there for a 4 5 minutes stretch than McNeace. McNeace is just not ready even for 2 minutes a game..

100% agree with this and others calling it a non-issue. Sure, I'd prefer to have him and the option to get him some minutes tonight, but he simply hasn't been an impactful player for us this year and to expect that to suddenly happen in the Sweet 16 is reaching, IMO-- even if the match-up is one where he may have gotten some minutes.

McNeace is active on defense as far as protecting the rim. He also can rebound a bit and isn't subject to falling asleep on the offensive end. If he plays he will do just fine.

At some point in time this obviously needs to change and today would be as good a start as any, and it has to start at some point, otherwise he will just be a dead weight.

Agree with you.. AK won't be the deciding factor in tonight's game or a national championship, it would just be nice to have him.. I hope McNeace comes in from here on out and plays 4-6 hard minutes a game and learns for next year. If we make it to the final 4 I still would think Lon would go back to AK. Really both guys need to step it up for next season or they will be passed up. AK is just better on defense and I don't think it's really that close. Love Mcneace and his potential, but he doesn't time his block attempts very well and doesn't rebound better than AK.

I'm not so sure AK is better. Might be the better shot blocker, but he is slower and gets out of position more. At least McNeace is in the right spot most of the time, even if he is timid.

The difference is negligible, and as mentioned above, it won't make a bit of difference in tonight's game.
