Makes sense that OU would opt out of this. Moser will have to literally start all over with the roster, again, so more time to do that is helpful.

As much as I’d love to watch another OU basketball game, I agree with this. Nothing to gain from NIT games, would cost net $$ for a home game, and gets us on the recruiting trail earlier.

I believe there's still at large the Crown can take obviously OU would be the first invited. It's only a field of 8 this year though. I believe they pay out for NIL on it too.

Two at large spots, but I don't think OU would want to play. It doesn't start until the beginning of April. That's a bad timeline for a team losing a bunch of players and that needs to start Portal recruiting.

And subject the entire roster to more film to be scouted and stats to be leveraged. Sadly there's just no reason to play it anymore and it is going to either die off or just be a small school tourney

What makes you think we'd win it?

That $300k of NIL, I would think, would be paid to the players that won it, not used for next year's team.

Sure, they may have been an undefeated 1 seed this year if they'd skipped the tournament, but I'm having a hard time seeing your point that it was detrimental. No correlation or causation to that claim.
