What a baby... 3 months ago he said he have to have NCAA basketball, Then his team sucks... then I cant believe we are doing this in a Pandemic.
I understand his sentiment.
But the reality is that the players have the option of not playing if they don't want to. They have the option to sit out and be with family.
No player should feel like they are being forced to play

I read the article. A lot of what he's saying is not wrong.
Another loss or two and Shashevski's back will start flaring up again.
Well when people criticize them I hear "But they're just kids! Don't criticize them!" but when it comes to making this kind of decision people say, "They're adults! Let them decide!"
Without a bubble it's not safe right now. If the NCAA could come up with regional bubbles for teams like the NBA did this season it could be safe. I don't think that's probably feasible though.
and yet baseball college football the nfl have all made it and or are making it work .. .
not to mention the millions of us going to work every day ..
the NBA is going be playing in home arenas again starting this weekend

Guess you’d have to define “safe.” This virus poses very minimal threat to the players given their age, condition, etc.. Probably less than the flu. Now, in now way, shape, or form am I saying this is “just the flu” or getting into that debate AT ALL- I’m speaking very specifically about college athletes in this context. The players live very “bubbled” lives on campus so they also pose very little threat to the outside world.
More importantly, there is the false notion out there that no matter the scale, that playing is MORE dangerous than not playing. But how are you gauging that? Are you saying players will follow MORE protocols and and guidelines if they were away from basketball than they would playing basketball? That is a major stretch for me. If they cancelled the season today, I would say that all players across the country immediately become MORE dangerous as virus-spreaders because they won’t be under the thumb of their current protocols and will be left to just be regular college-aged students doing regular college-aged students things. If the retort to that is they can continue the strict protocols and being part of the program without playing games, well then that just makes no sense.
Coach K is frustrated because his team stinks and it’s annoying as hell to play under the current restrictions and protocols. I get it. But it think it is patently false to say it’s a “safety” issue— it’s more a convenience issue and whether or not delaying the season would allow for it to proceed more smoothly or not.
it's just a game and not worth risking the lives of friends and family to play. period.
