A few hours before securing one of the most unlikely Final Four berths in NCAA tournament history, three members of VCU’s basketball squad – Joey Rodriguez, Ed Nixon and Bradford Burgess – stood face to face with Kansas’ Morris twins in the middle of the Alamodome court.

Within seconds, what was supposed to be a customary pregame handshake between captains turned into much more.

“They (the Morris Twins) were like, ‘Y’all had a good little run, but now it’s time to go home,’” Nixon said.

You guys (OUHoops) were right, they are thugs.

KU isn't full of thugs. Keep trying, but you are focused on the wrong issues with KU. It's nice to see VCU win and your threads should be more about that success than trying to build a silly case for KU = Thug U.

That's laughable at best.:facepalm

shaddup you moran! I defended them before until I saw this.

Actually much better kids then Tiny Gallon and Mason Griffin. Now those were thugs.

Was Torrance Marshall a thug?

People talk crap to each other during pre-game in the tunnel and captain's meetings?!? Oh my.

I'm cool with people going after them for the pellet gun incident or whatever, but this is stupid.

What bugs me about them is their body language. Its so overwhelmingly "hard" all the time that they come off as wannabes IMO. Then when things dont go their way they sulk. They ride the emotional rollercoaster everytime I see them on TV. Wonder if they are like that in everyday activities. If so, that would be exhausting!

:chestram2::chestram2: Great point. Loved watching him get abused by Blake his first two years in Stillwater. I think one of the games he had like a point and 5 fouls in a short amount of time.

you know what ... it's NOT stupid. It's more of that same bully crap. Getting up in someone's face and talking squack to intimidate them.

awwwww...so fricking sad they didn't back it up against VCU. Too bad they didn't tear a meniscus.

I will say this: My cousin is a KU grad. He wants Bill Self gone. Only a little of it is for all of the underachievement in the tournament. Most is for the direction of the program's perception and the type of people that Self has recruited.

I'll take Bill Self...! And his National Championship!

Look at the seeds Billy has lost to at KU? Dude is a terrible game day coach, and that gets exposed in the Dance.

I think there is no shame in losing to a team that just made the Final 4...But i can understand the frustration in losing in the 1st and 2nd rounds. But this Kansas team showed it was feast or famine from the 3 point line this year. And Morningstar and Reed are average playmaking guards.

They got to the Final Four because they beat KU. Bill Self is, I believe, 1-5 in Elite 8 games. Just sayin ...

and a lot of people were down on coah K a few years back too after several years of not making it past the sweet 16 and Kentucky is finally back into the Final 4 for the first time since winning it all in 1998. Just saying its not as easy as people make it out to be.

I think Self is a very good coach, but I would certainly disagree playing Reed and Morningstar as much as he did. Really thought he should have rotated them one for defense BM and play Reed only if he is hitting his 3's.

It was a tough situation for Self, if those guys aren't hitting he really doesn't have anyone else. Saying goes, "you dance with the one that brought ya", Morningstar and Reed have been instrumental to their success this year, they just both laid an egg yesterday.

Kept waiting for Selby to break out but it didn't happen.

lol, does KU want Roy back? Doubt it.

People underestimate how tough it is to get to the Final Four, no matter if you're a 1 seed or not. If it was a seven games series, then yeah, the degree of difficulty goes down b/c talent will win out.

He's 1-5 in Elite Eight games, although one was while he wast at TU. The loss at Illinois was to eventual runner-up Arizona, losses at KU have been to Georgia Tech (national runner-up) and UCLA.

This really was the first "bad" loss in the Elite Eight...and I don't think it had much to do with Self. Guards didn't hit their jump shots (give credit to VCU) and it snowballed. Self might have stayed with the Reed/Morningstar combo too much, but nothing else really sticks out. The shooting %'s (especially 3pt and FT) were awful.

Not only is Self 1-5 in Elite 8 games but he has early round losses to the likes of Bucknell and Northern Iowa while at KU. I know we are in a bad situation right now and would kill for a coach that has been to 6 Elite 8s but at a place like Kansas shouldn't getting to the Elite 8 be pretty standard?

I liken getting to the Final Four like getting to a BCS game. Bill Self has gone to a lot of Cotton Bowls at a place where they should be in the BCS more often than not.
