+++++Oklahoma [5-1] vs. UTSA [5-4] GameThread+++++

I'm not sure why people are complaining about defense. Allowing 38% shooting and 31% on threes is very good and will win you just about any game, even if OU's shooters are as cold as they were tonight.

some people would complain if you hung'em with a gold rope.

UTSA hit a number of threes tonight with a hand in the shooter's face. I thought our defense was better at times in this game.

This team seems to have two problems....turnovers and poor three point shooting. Ball protection is correctable. With the three point shooting we need to start seeing some consistency. And by that I mean 35% or better on a consistent basis. We should be a better perimeter shooting team than we are and I suspect part of the problem is shot selection. You guys would have to confirm this for me as I’ve only been able to see one game (I’m out of the country for a few months) and have to decifer their performance through box scores and game threads.

They missed a lot of wide open 3's. If they could shoot a lick, there's a good chance OU would've lost. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. On defense, we were lucky.

The defense was better in the 2nd half...at times. At others it was completely non-existent. I think we just quit playing defense at all with maybe 5 or 6 minutes left when the game was well in hand but for much of the 2nd half it was pretty good.

The defensive effort in the 1st half was pretty bad, however. Maybe we'll play up to the competition Friday as we did vs. Oregon. If we play with the same defensive intensity Friday as we did last night, we'll get blown out.

No need to break things down statistically. This team is still a work in progress with much more upside than last season. Clearly they are not that good right now. Just need to find ways to win ugly games and get better. This isn't unusual for most teams most years no matter the jersey colors. If they don't lose more than one game in December they will be going in the right direction.

If a number of the outside shots were open and the shots did not fall it doesn't necessarily reflect good defense. It's similar to falling on ice a number of times but not getting hurt.

In today's basketball, games are determined by 3-point shooting and most of them are going to be open looks.

Teams like UTSA (without quality bigs) are going to build their team around these types of kids. It makes any team like them dangerous on a given night.

I just had a chance to watch the game. Is it me or does Young never really smile on the basketball court? In interviews he seems very personable and happy. He seems to not really interact with teammates much or get excited lately. Just my observation early.

I remember him making a play, which was not text book in its execution, and the net result was a good one, but he could not contain his laughter.
