I made a statement of fact. You are making assmptions about what I may or may not know. This is an opinion board, and everyone is entiltled to theirs. But,by defending Capel in any manner, or at any level, seems to me to be more of a commentary on what you don't know.

VCU was not that bad prior to Capel getting the job. In fact, the prior coach had turned the program around. In 2001/02 VCU won 21 games. Since then the worst seasons have been 18, 19 and 19 wins (all under Capel). VCU has had 10 coaches in its history and 5 of them have higher winning percentages than Jeff Capel.

I love it when Mike Krzyzewski says a guy is a great coach and then hires him, proving that he believes it, and then half a dozen posters on this board follow up by saying what a terrible coach Capel is.

I guess it just shows how much more you guys know about college basketball than Coach K does. Either that or your'e just morons.

No, I did not say that. What I'm saying is that Capel was an abject failure as the head coach at OU. He completly dismantled the basketball program on every level. If Coach K wants to toss him a lifeline and give him a shot at redemption, that is his business. But, that does not have anything to do with the mess he made here. On one of the TV broadcast the play by play guy asked Tubbs, "What does OU have to do today to upset Baylor?" And Tubbs replied, "Since when is it an upset for OU to beat Baylor?" The reply was, "It would be today" And Tubbs replied, "Well, then there is something terribly wrong with the OU basketball program." The Capel defenders club is pretty small and it seems that all of them have taken up residence on this message board.

I'm a results kind of guy and the results are Capel is not a great coach or a great recruiter or he wouldn't have taken a top 20 program and turned it into a bottom 20 performer.

I would think the morons would be those who can objectively look at the results and claim he's a great coach.

Bitter? Moron? Not me. I'm really enthusiastic about the futute prospects for OU basketball. Mayby just a small step next season. But then, back in business. It never fails with your type. You can not win the arguement. Then here comes some kind of personal attact. Joe C. made what turned out to be a bad hire. That is fixed now. And I am happy about that. If you want to see bitter, get off this message board and out in the community and that is all you will see from a large segment of the years gone by fan base. Just yesterday at a wedding, a long time season ticket holder that did not renew before last season started, said that even Kruger couldn't get him back until he proved he could get that mess straightened up. And just today at Sam's Club, I ran into the old retired NHS basketball coach that is still well connected in the local basketball community. He couldn't do anymore than smile and shake his head in wonderment as to how Capel fouled up the program. And then there is the old retired OU assistant coach from the glory days,(a regular in my poker game) that just laughed at me when I tried to defend anything Capel related. It just went on and on. I'm not bitter. I'm relieved.
