On to the lopsided in state basketball Series

Strange do happen on the court in Upper GI. A great OU team in 1990 almost blew a 26-point lead, but pulled away late to win by double digits. A very good OU team in '87 did lose to the Pokes up there in a true head-scratcher. In the first meeting that season, OU had over 20 points and a double-digit lead before the first media timeout.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything like that is guaranteed to happen over 30 years later. But it should still sound a warning to every OU team that should be favored over OSU in Stillwater.

I keep hoping the Pokes will play as tight as a drum like they did twice when I was a student. In '78 and '79, OU dominated the Pokes up there more than they did at the LNC.

The line was saying -5 (odd shark). I thought it looked weird/wrong. Either way, I was expecting OU to be favored even at GIA.

I expect my car to get me to work pretty much every day. After a successful trip, I rarely go into the office and say.. Guys! Guess what? My car got me here! It was awesome! Now, a few times that it broke down, I *****ed and moaned and wondered what the deal was...How can this happen, you're normally so reliable...? This is costing me more than I won at Bingo last night. I vent to the mechanic, and the car itself.

People vent.. Get over it!

That being said, it is ok to express some excitement with your fellow fans after a big win from time to time. Many perhaps are still waiting on that big win, though.

Good post. Well put.

I don't have a lot to say when we're beating the ISU's and OSU's of the world. That is two of our three wins over the last 4 weeks.

This is also my busy time at work. I spent all day on the road traveling home yesterday. Sometimes OU plays a game, wins, and I don't necessarily have the time to come on here to discuss it. Sometimes I do.

Unless I've missed something, OU has ONE win against teams that Bracketology currently predicts to make the Dance, and that is WVU recently. So it's not like OU is winning games against a bunch of impressive teams. We used to. That used to be the expectation.

Edit: We have TWO wins against teams projected to make the Dance. I missed North Texas (13 seed).

I wouldn't count North Texas because that is not an assumed at-large bid. North Texas is expected to win their league, but if they don't they won't go.

North Texas is a fine non-con opponent that I think OU should play every year, but I think its worth noting that OU has beat one team that is expected to get an at-large bid.

I'd even be fine with hiring their coach.

History has shown that losses in Stillwater happen whether we're really good or lousy. Some of our lesser teams have snagged wins up there too, so you never really know. It's a rivalry game, and it's their Super Bowl, so you can always expect a tough game in the old Gallagher Hall.

Problem is, we need this win. Badly. We did that to ourselves. We did that by not showing up in Manhattan or Ames against two dreadful teams. That's where you make your hay: at the bottom feeders. We blew those opportunities and got dumptrucked for our troubles.

If we lose today then that's three in a row and it looks like another February swoon for a Lon Kruger team. But I think we're going to win.

Wouldn’t it be lower GI? Cuz they’re full of poop and stuff?

I think OU will win... by 7-8 as well. OU will have a comfortable lead in the first half, OSU will make a second half run, and OU will settle on 7-8 point win.

Gun to my head I think we lose. And then our margin for error becomes razor thin. Hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, this is where I am as well. Hopefully they dig down, play tough and prove me wrong. I just don't have much confidence in this team on the road right now.

Bieniemy will have a big game and OU will win.

Agreed. So much so that I grabbed OU on the ML at +105 for a few bucks.

This is what we get starting arrogant ass threads like this like we actually have a good team.
