Ames to KC: 229 miles, 3:26
Norman to KC: 369 miles, 5:15 (and OKC and Tulsa are even closer--Tulsa only 30 minutes further than Ames)

Crowd difference Thursday night: 15 to 1 (my estimate, would love to hear others)

Look, I get that we're a football school, that the B12 is ISU's tradition, etc. But this is a once in every decade basketball year for us and that was disappointing. Especially when the above distances show it's not that much harder of a trip. Just very frustrating.

You're right. We're a football school. And if you're a big OU basketball fan, it's likely that you're saving your time and money to go to the first couple rounds of the NCAAs in OKC.

des moines (where lots and lots of isu fans live) is 193 miles to KC

I live 3 hours from KC and 2 hours from OKC. The conference tournament is meaningless once a team is a lock for the NCAA's. Yes it would be nice to win it and it's never okay when we lose, but the NCAA's are for more important than the conference tourney. Sooner fans will be out in full force in OKC this weekend.

Kansas City has a ton of ISU fans who live right here in the city limits. KU and Mizzou have the most by far but I would say ISU and Nebraska are next. I don't see many KSU fans but they may all be in Johnson County and I live north of the river so I don't make it much down to Johnson County.

Nailed it!

Ku and isu can save up all year for their only sporting event worth going to.

Traveling to Miami for the Orange Bowl was a real chunk of change - was even worse being out numbered 80-20 in a CFB Semi Final game. But the costs to travel to these games really is no joke - not going to lie when you come out on the losing end after spending that much money it gets harder to continue to do also.

When I was in KC, there were a ton of ISU fans that lived in the metro.

They really need to switch between KC and Dallas every year. Surprised a proposal like that hasn't gained more traction. There are three teams near/around KC whereas there are six that are closer to the DFW metroplex.

A pox on your house for even thinking about Dallas as a destination for the Big 12 tournament.

well, I live here and didn't go...

1. had to work
2. trying to fight traffic

Do I regret going? yes...I've gone before and hopefully when I retire I'll be a regular.

yup, lots of ksu folks here. I do see occasional OU fans...

Had some old ku fart turn around at Mass Sat night (I had my OU hoodie on) and say "rock chalk" after peace b with you...what a jackass, those are the jackass ku fans I can't stand. (st james up north)

As I told a friend that was texting me crap during the 2nd OU/KU game I don't give him grief during football (he's actually a fan of them)...but will if he wants.

My GF lives up in Gladstone...where you at BOB..?

different IF you know the guy...this was not my normal church. I do have a guy at my church that is a ku guy, we always end up in the same pew (ya know us Catholics sit in the same spots..) and we'll talk.

This guy turned for the sign of peace, then turned back around to say that.:facepalm
