Anyone watch that game? At the end OSU got a layup with .2 seconds left in OT. An OSU sub ran onto the court and hugged the shooter. Isn't that a technical?
No, because Drew called a timeout
He couldn't have possibly called timeout before that kid ran on the court. That kid screwed up and got very lucky he did not cost OSU a double OT. OSU still might have won. I was at the gym when it happened so I couldn't hear the audio.
The kid ran onto the court before he possibly knew if a TO was called. If you cannot admit that, you are just strange. It was a walkon or the last guy on your bench. It is no reflection on the coach, the program or even the kid (other than he screwed up) and nothing bad happened. Why do you worthless aggies have to argue and defend everything associated with OSU? This isn't an insult. I was really just asking my fellow OU fans (not you dumb@$$es) if I am correct it is a technical?
Yes, it should have been a technical with 2 free throws and the ball. The aglets were very lucky on that play. And I agree the aggies need to be banned like the Pokie site does, LOL
Watch the replay, it wasn't Drew that called a timeout there was a Baylor player standing directly under the basket, #21 the freshman center, and immediately when the ball goes through the hoop he has his hands raised calling time out.
While I wouldn't call a technical in this situation, it doesn't matter if the player is calling a timeout. A timeout doesn't come into effect until it is granted by the official.
Who cares...OSU beat Baylor. 0.2 seconds on the clock. if a ref would have gave a technical with that amount of time left...the ref should have been crucified. The game was won on the court!
The kid broke the rule on the Court. This is a ridiculous argument. Should the officials enforce traveling? What about a foul on the Baylor shooter (if it happened) prior to the fast break. Officials should consistently follow the rules. Set a standard and live by all game. Don't change it in the final minute simply because the game is close. Had the officials let something go earlier, the game might not be as close.
By definition a technical is a bit arbitrary but they are called. For example, when Cam Clark cleared and hit the player above the shoulder he got a technical. There is no point to having rules is they are enforced arbitrarily. That just leads to confusion and caos.
if they would have given OU a tech in that same scenario...not one of you would be saying the ref made the right call
So you would only call a technical foul when it seemed just and reasonable rather than when the rule was broken? That makes no sense. It is either a violation or not. What is the point of having rules if judges or officials enforce them when they want rather than all the time.
In Federal Court the judges enforce the rules strictly and the attorneys comply. In state court you never know if a judge will enforce the rules and attorneys violate them all the time. The state judges seem at loss as to why this happens. The reason seems pretty clear to me. The attorneys know they probably will not suffer any consequences for not following the rules so they don't always follow them. Just enforce the rules or don't have them.
