The Lady Eagles came away with an overtime win at home against the Lady Braves of Cherokee on Tuesday. The game was close throughout. Rabun Gap led by 6 early in the second quarter, but Cherokee tied it at 24 heading to the break. The game went back and forth during the third quarter and was 35-35 after three quarters. Cherokee led 47-41 with just over 5 minutes to go, but the Lady Eagles responded to lead 50-49 with just over a minute left. Both teams missed crucial free throws during those final seconds, which sent the game to overtime. Melissa Wong's steal and lay-up early in the extra period put Rabun Gap up for good. Meona Feather hit a huge three to increase the lead to 57-50 with about 1:30 to go. The Lady Eagles outscored Cherokee 9-1 during the extra period for a 59-51 victory.
Pallas Kunaiyi led the team with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Meona Feather finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Ksenija Madzarevic had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Rabun Gap (3-0) travels to Cary Academy on Friday and to High Point Christian on Saturday.
