>>>>>OU-Kansas State Gameday Thread<<<<<

K-State is a poor offensive team. But our defense has been quite poor at times in stretches....and not just in this game. It has been occurring often during conference play. Our Kenpom defensive efficiency has dropped from #2 to #22 in about 5 weeks. And before anyone says we've been playing more difficult games, Kenpom adjusts his metrics based upon strength of opponent. There needs to be more of a commitment on the defensive end....starting now.

Hopefully Buddy has a "lsu" 2nd half in him

Def they better pick it up a notch

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas State Gameday Thread<<<<<b

They shot 61% from the field, 57% from 3, had more FT's and out-rebounded us by 3. That kind of sums it up.

Look forward to this half. We know what they are going to do now. Other guys have to drive and shoot it well. Buddy needs to work for some offensive rebounds.

D has to be better or it won't matter.

Well, it kinda is. We are finesse and they are banging our screen and rolls and pounding us out to half court. We cant really get in our sets. Couple that with the terrible decisions and handling from Buford and Manyang and Hield and Spangler and we look bad. I'm sure the half will bring adjustments.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen Manyang pass it out of the post. Whenever he gets it down there, he forces up whatever crap he can and prays that it goes in.

Well, he has exactly 0 assists on the season, so you'd be right. You've never seen it.

Lattin on the bench with two fouls for a good portion of that half really hurt us. Buford and Manyang filling in for him weren't much help on offense or defense.

If Lattin doesn't improve his footwork he will have 2 more quickly. They will definitely try to pull him out and either shoot the open 3 or take him off the dribble.

Yeah and on the radio broadcast they were saying it feels a lot like the LSU game. They also indicated that when you're number 1 teams give you their best shot... KSTATE will not shoot that well in the 2nd half.

This is why Spangler plays the 4s

Though Hurt is a 5 who'll knock down 3s

They are also doubling on the screens...not just hedging so our guards are concerned about that and not passing

For as bad as a half as that seemed, K-State is a good team despite their record. Take a look at these close losses:
  • OT loss to wvu
  • Double OT loss at baylor
  • 3 point loss at texas
They would be a bubble team had they won those. So they've shown to be competent for a good portion of the season, they just haven't been able to close the deal very often.

Woodard sat out a lot of time, too, with 2 fouls. The bench won't get that many minutes in the 2nd half. Woodard needs to give us some offense.

Yep, most everyone expected a tough game here and we are getting it. Anxious to see how we respond.

I like what KSU is doing. Take away Buddy and see if others can beat you. Hopefully, Buddy can get some transition and offensive rebounds.
