Re: OU-Kansas Box Score

Doolittle going 1/10 (0/3 from 3) really hurt tonight. He was actually shooting OK from 3 this season until tonight. Like I mentioned in the game thread, this team simply has to shoot the ball better if they want to compete....and that also means taking better (smarter) shots after ball movement.

Re: OU-Kansas Box Score

We're shooting 39% as a team from 3 for the year. We just don't take very many. Maybe Kruger needs to rethink this strategy.

He took some bad shots and didn't finish at the bucket when he got there, but you have to love his energy and the fight he showed. He played extremely well for a freshman in a game like that. He's definitely a cornerstone around which to build.

I guess one great thing to take away is that they did fight and were assertive most of the night. Odomes, doolittle, and mcgusty are really trying to be aggressive and it shows.

by the end of the year, mcgusty may very well be our best player over woodard.

Re: OU-Kansas Box Score

Think about how overmatched our frontcourt looked against Baylor. It looked like we played in 2 different leagues. Our bigs played exponentially better against Kansas, especially in the first half. We owned the boards for the first 20 minutes. We're growing, slowly but surely.

Lattin and James were much better as well. McNeace played well, except for trying 2 lefthanded shots he never should have attempted. The team played well last night. Once we figure out how to win games like this -- and it will happen -- this team's going to be good.

I'd agree Lattin played better. Played like last year's Lattin, blocking shots and giving energy. The expectation was he would give more than that this year, but I'll take it over how hes been playing recently.
I don't think James was that good. A couple bad turnovers, including another travel. Hopefully he figures something out before next year.

IMO, Doolittle shoots too much.

I can see the potential, but he needs to do more passing, and take the easy shots, and the shots inside. We have enough guys that are taking jumpers.

McNease and Lattin combined for 16 points and 18 boards. If they can keep that kind of production, that will help a bunch.

Agreed. The difference was night and day. Now, Baylor's front line is better than Kansas's but it was still a huge improvement.

James was the team's 3rd leading scorer, with 9 pts, and, as a guard, had 5 rebounds...In just 17 minutes. With all the complaining all over this site for the last 2-3 weeks about James's play, I would have thought we could all agree that was an improvement.

I thought James was better overall the other night. However, he did have 3 turnovers and two of them were at crucial points in the game (one leading to a 5 point swing). The guy needs to play within himself and not feel like he has to take the team on his shoulders.
