Despite the fact that Vivi has spent the entire first half sitting due to foul trouble. Shaina kept her company. EJ had a good half.

OU, and OU won their fourth softball game.

Final: 72-52.

Gabbi, Maddie, and Vivi led it: 16, 14, 11. They shot well in a game in which the freshmen didn't. EJ had a good game while Vivi was saddled with fouls and also had 11. Gabbi and Maddie were 6 of 11 from three.

OU is now 8-6 having swept Kansas and Kansas State with Iowa State and Texas Tech quite possible.

Next Saturday: West Virginia in Morgantown

Wednesday and Saturday: Iowa State and Texas Tech in Norman

Tuesday: Texas in Austin

Win any two, and we are 10-8 in conference 15-14 on the year.

Yes. EJ scored 11.

Any road win is a good win in the Big XII. However, 21 turnovers, shooting 52 percent from the free throw line, and missed easy layups will get you beat against fairly good teams. Team defense and decent shooting helped win this game against a poor Kansas team. Hopefully they can work on taking care of the ball and work on free throw shooting before going to Morgantown next weekend. Love to see these kids win out.

Syb I’ll take that as a we are all surprised EJ scored! I have always thought maybe she is gonna break out but then she never does even with the 11 tonight she always seems kind a train wreck about to happen...maybe she is just too athletic for her speed of the game but i just hood my breathe when she goes up thinking something bad could happen with her being out of control. But if she can harness that we need some type of inside sub and starter next season!

Taking care of the ball had seemed to be a problem all year. Our assist to turnover ratio is not good. Hopefully just more experience will remedy this.

I think EJ has begun to look like she has a clue in about the last eight games. She isn't bad on defense, and she usually gets rebounds and blocks a shot or two. She can get a cripple.

I'm not sure what we will have inside next year, or exactly how we will use it. The biggest unknown is probably Aspen Williston. But, I think we may be OK with a couple who can take up space, get boards, and keep the other team's posts honest. We may have the rebounding and scoring from the forward position or big guard positions depending on how we use Madison. I think she may grab as many rebounds as any of our posts have this year. We won't have the length of a Maddie, unless Nydia Lampkin is ready to go. How ready will Nydia and Tatum be? I think Madison will score as much or more than Ana and Shaina as a freshman.

I would take you up on that bet Syb. I have watched Madi for some time at elite level. She will give this team a defensive stance it hasn’t seen but offensively it would surprise me. But i hope I’m surprised! Mostly because there are going to be a lot more kids in play next season i don’t know how minutes will be shared but i expect Ana and Shaina to stay about sams next season. They are two freshman that have gotten a lot of opportunities because of lack of depth and they are taking advantage.

I for one an just happy on how these 3 seniors have been playing- yes i know Vivi hot in some foul trouble but it seems their composure is just coming around manning made a few bad decisions but stepped up to the 3 point line knowing she was going to knock down shots that’s the way we have to end this season. The seniors are going to determine our post season fate and i for one have faith they will get us there!

We were not perfect by any means, but we held them to zero made field goals in the entire first quarter and that’s pretty cool!

We have played very good field goal percentage defense in recent games.

at Texas Tech 38.8
Baylor 49.2
at Kansas State 47.4
Oklahoma State 37.5
Kansas 43.1
at TCU 32.8
Kansas State 30.6
West Virginia 32.1
at Baylor 53.6
at Kansas 27.1

Six of the last ten opponents have been held to less than 40% from the field. If we finish with that type of defense, we will probably be in the Big Twelve finals and the Sweet Sixteen. TCU beat us with 32.8% because we had a poor day ourselves. But, you can't win shooting 30 and 32 %.

which says more about the state of women's hoops than it does about OU.
OU has a better chance than I thought to limp into the ncaa tourney
