OU vs Tech

It says in the stats at ESPN that there were two technical fouls on the Tech team. Anyone know why they were called? I forgot about game so didn't hear it.

It was on the Tech coach.
All I saw was the Tech coach dropping what looked to be F-bombs on the team after they called one- which was right after they were down 26-6 or something.

The first technical was before the tip because Tech didn't provide lineup to scorer's table in timely fashion. Maddie hit 1 of 2 before tipoff.

Second technical, like you say, was against Candy.

The first tech was before the game. Before tipoff, Maddie shot 2 FTs and made 1, so we began the game up 1-0 before the clock started. Rowland said the technical had something to do with the Tech bench but I'm not sure what.

The technical described above was on the Tech bench. It was not clear what happened, but seemed to be some kind of verbal outburst from someone over there.

The first technical was before the game started. The announcer called it "an administrative technical on Tech". I assume there was some issue with the original starting lineup information they submitted, but it was never spelled out by the announcers. Maddie made 1 of 2, so we started out the game with 1 point before the initial tip-off. They still started the game with a jump ball - which KK won and we had the ball to start.

This was a very fun game to attend. The kids in the stands added a lot of excitement and "noise" to the game. I laughed when the cheerleaders tried the "Boomer - Sooner" chant where they hold up the large cards to opposite sides. The kids just screamed all the time - some screaming "Boomer", some screaming "Sooner", and some ..... well just screaming. They were energetic! :dance005:

I think Candy was just trying to get team's attention. Don't know what she said to get technical but she was screaming at team and not even paying attention to officials. She was doing her best Sulkey Mulkey impression with her team instead of officials! :)

Toby Rowland (?) stated that the pre-game technical was because the Tech coach did not provide the lineups to the scorer's table at least ten minutes prior to the game, an administrative requirement.

That's what they stated on telecast as well.

Candi probably has not had to turn in a lineup by 10:20 a.m. for a regular season game in a while. lol

Only 5 turnovers by the first 7 or 8 and a total of 9. Now that is the way the game should be played. Great job ladies.

Guys/Gals The NCAA rule book requires all teams to have their lineup entered into the official scores book no later than 10 prior to tip off. Failure to do so is a T (shot), the rule use to require teams to have their lineup in 20 mins prior to tip off but somewhere along the line they changed it.

you can watch if have some cable package on the puter...

good win.

Excited to see the 6'9 girl next year. At least she doesn't LOOK like a man! lol

Okay, I am really not being hateful but I believe we should all be aware of comments like that. People cannot help what they look like and why should we care......looks aren't important and really, if you are referring to Griner, she has a pretty face but a masculine voice. How can we expect our children not to bully if they hear and read adults saying these things. Of course, you may not be an adult, I don't know. But, if not an adult, know this is not funny and is very unkind and bigoted. I doubt that you are a bad person but just made a bad remark.

+1

I just now got to watch the game. Great win, fun game to watch and with the huge lead, everyone got to play. Granted, Tech has almost no interior defense but, this is the kind of game we needed. Hopefully, we can carry the energy and ball movement over to the Horns.

Always! Until the next loss! :woot

Cat, I think everyone on this board, with the exception of Vinny, is making an excellent effort to be fair and to note both the bad and good.

Even Syb has acknowledged that Maddie is having some on-court, sub par performances.

Even I regret calling Syb an idiot a few weeks ago. It was true, but I've still felt bad about it. Joke. Joke.

Don't like Kim, not fond of Griner, but agree that looks don't relate to worth as a person, and I do not knock college kids for where they play.

Only saw the first half (in person) then had to leave for work.
We came out so aggressive, offensively, defensively, and chasing rebounds. That is was fueled the great performance from the team.

I loved the environment today. All the school kids getting into the game. This was the team I have been waiting to see. Seems like the team meeting helped get the kids focused and re-energized toward the conference season. The ball movement was crisp. The most cutting to the basket and moving without the ball we have seen in a while. I haven't seen the stats but not a lot of stupid turnovers, and the shooting was pretty good all around.

Nice to see Gioya and Maddie play with confidence today. I agree with what has been said, our post play and their play can take us a long way if we can start to get consistency. Good blow out win and glad every one got playing time.

The technical was really unusual, I had that happen to me, when my score book was not in order. I had left a player off that wasn't going to play. From that point on I made sure my book was in order. We were sitting behind the Tech bench a few rows up, and I certainly did not see what caused the second T. Maybe it was language, Coach was pretty animated during some of the time outs.

I was basically referring to the inception of this OU Women's board, not just this year. Rarely it's been different whether it was Final 4 year or 18-13 year. As I've said a few times over the years, no one posting on this board is saying this program, or even Sherri, is perfect. I've seen many of the so-called "sunshine pumpers" be disappointed in team play, coaching decisions, etc. and have stated such. But there has been a constant tone on this board for years that every thing Sherri does or says is wrong and I'm pretty sure it's personal, although I'm not sure why.

I think today is what the so-called "sunshine pumpers" or glass half full people have suspected how this team could play based on pieces we've seen this year. The key is can they play up to, or near this level, for the remainder of the season. It will be difficult, for sure, but when they do, they can play with most anyone in the country not named UConn.

I think we all hope we can take this game and positives and work on things needing improvement (FT shooting today) and move ahead. But I can almost guarantee the posts after the next loss! This was a big step forward but they are still a work in progress to get where THEY want to be and where they CAN be.
