OU vs. Utah Statistical Plus/Minus
OU managed to win an ugly game. They had no standout performances, no dominant star, but they still gutted out a solid win over a solid team. Utah is ranked #122 in the Pomeroy Rankings; beating them on the road will be useful come tournament selection Sunday.

Willie shot poorly, but redeemed himself with the free throws. He turned the ball over a lot, but redeemed himself with all the rebounds. All in all, a decent game, but not up to his standards. And he was the best OU player yesterday!
TMG continues his solid play. Like Willie, he had troubles with missing shots and turning the ball over, but also like him he rebounded well (!) and got to the line.
Ryan Wright played a solid game, which is a good thing given Tiny's troubles! No scoring, but 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block. A useful contribution.
TC was a rebounding beast again. Wow! Another solid game; only 1 assist and no steals or blocks though.
Tiny played solidly when he was in. 9 Points and 3 rebounds in 10 minutes... unfortunately, the fouls did him in.
The best 2 players on the floor played for Utah. David Foster played a splendid game. Six blocks in 23 minutes! That's what a big man should do. Seven points and seven rebounds, also. Well done. Luke Drca played a nice game also--8 rebounds, 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Both played well, but were done in by bad playe from their teamates.
All in all, a good win for OU.

TC and WW lead the team; Cade and Tiny play well; Pledger pitches in, and the rest have played basically average so far this year.

Statistical Plus/Minus (SPM) is a method of estimating each player's impact from the box score statistics. SPM is listed in points above the average player playing per 100 possessions--so if that player was replaced by an average player for 100 possessions, SPM is the difference in the final margin. The total of all player's contributions will sum to the actual scoring margin (each team's total will equal half of the overall margin). The original method was outlined by Dan Rosenbaum at 82games.com; recently additional factors were added by Neil Paine at Basketball-Reference.com. I previously compiled the complete 2008-2009 NCAA numbers on this forum.
