Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Vinelights

Nice line by Lattin. About the only complaint is 4 turn overs. He is going to be a great player as a junior and senior. When he becomes super confident to take that jumper he is going to take a huge step.

Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Vinelights

Looking at the Box:
Buford 7 of 8 FTs
James 3 Rb 2 of 2 FT

That stat line from the lower right corner of the box is ugly.....except for second chance points. The two big things that seem to be keeping us from being truly dominant are Cousins' slump and our lack of a developed bench IMO. If Cousins can get back to his normal game, it really makes us that much harder to defend.....giving Buddy more space to work with. His game struggled when he played the point as a freshman and it seems that could be his problem now although I would like to think it's just a temporary slump. Never the less, it's been a real problem since conference play began.

As for the bench, I think we can all say it hasn't developed as we had hoped. It's shown flashes, but we need consistent quality play from at least two of those guys.....especially when we play the ISUs, Techs, WVUs on the road and come tourney time.

I would add a lack of scoring from out bigs within the confines of our half-court offense. Other than the occassional Spangler 3, we can't throw the ball to one of our 4's or 5's, and ask them to consistently get buckets on their owns. Most of the very good or great teams can. It's nice to have 2-3 guards that can fill it up most nights, but the Dukes, Kentucky, Kansas, and most of the other teams in the top 10 have at least one post that can score on his own. Hoping Lattin grows into that, or that Freeman/Buford or one of the other stretch 4 types can be that Ace-like player.

Actually, Duke and Kentucky are very poor in the post this year and don't get much production at all down low. That's why both teams will not be high seeds in the NCAAs. But I do agree with your overall thoughts. If we did have that one low post threat, we might be unstoppable.
