Oklahoma’s anticipated quest to hire Marquette’s Buzz Williams may have ended before it began. Williams, believed to be the top target in a search for a successor to Jeff Capel, may be so happy in his current job that he may not even be interested in talking to OU, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

“It had nothing to do with Oklahoma,” the source said Monday. “He’s just happy where he is.”

Here's the link, but the quoted part above is the only thing you haven't read before:

But, but, the media said he was the leading candidate. Now, he wasn't even interested to begin with?

More proof no one is going to know who Joe is going to hire.

I agree. The report from FOX yesterday by Jeff Goodman alluded to the 3.8 million buyout which is not accurate. It's actually less than 2 million, but that proves nobody really knows what is happening with Buzz or the OU job search.

We may not hire Buzz, but I can guarantee you most of the info that's been reported about trying us chasing him or whatever isn't accurate. Nobody really knows what is happening but Joe and Buzz and the people between the 2 parties.

There sure is a lot of "may be happy" and "may have beens" in that quote. And none of those quotes are directly from Buzz's mouth. (Did not read the link just the quotes in the thread).

Guys I know directly from Buzz that he was very interested in the job right before the tourney. Now Marquette is upping his salary so unless Joe can bring a big number, he is staying.

Then this quote really bothers me: "And no amount of money, no years of service, no anything else that goes into a contract means more to me than that." - Buzz Williams

I understand it's a business, but why say this if its not true?

It's not a matter of "can Joe bring a big number." He difinitely can; I'm just not sure he will when he has other good options left.

I am just telling you, he was interested before the tourney and it was closer to being done than people knew, however after the tourney run, the number went up.

Just another reason to hate Syracuse.
