Please shut up about missed free throws/fouls

They shot 65% first half , and 53% for the game . We are horrible defensively and weaknesses are very troubling ... If we want to ever make a tourney run we need some big changes mentally wise/ attitude/ toughness . If Kruger can't fix this defense we will never be anything then a streaky team that can beat anyone but lose to anyone too .

Well, you can have Capel back and enjoy not watching OU in the tourney. I swear to god, I'm so sick of readi g posts by morons who clearly have no idea about basketball. Can you just please go back to rewatching your Sugar Bowl DVD and talking about how great OU is? Its one and done, upsets happen. Imagine the NBA playoffs as one and done.

Again.... really hard to be a good defensive team with a 6'6'' center and zero shot blocking. It's layup city in there.

Eh.

Don't get beat off the dribble so often and so badly, and the lack of center doesn't hurt so much.

Exactly when every guard you have is beat , it wouldn't matter what shot blocked you have ...... He would foul out .

Our athletes caused them problems tonite in our press, it's our half court that sucks. They have the ability , just not the desire.

That's the part to me that has been troubling, a team of four guards on the floor and can't contain dribble penetration. Weird.

It's basketball. FTs and fouls determine close games.

That's what happened tonight. That cost us the game.

Winning conference championships and making deep tourney runs go hand in hand with good defense. You are going to have off nights, your gonna have nights where guys get in foul trouble.playing sound team defense is the common factor that makes teams win consistently .
You can rip me all you want but without basic basketball fundamentals this team will never be anything but streaky .
Until these so called " gym rats" buy into playing an aggressive man defense , they will continue to struggle.

Allowing 52.9% when their average is 50.9% isn't horrible defense. I won't call it good, but it's not horrible.

Nds didn't even play good . Their best player struggled tonight. Also that average was against mid major **** for talent.

Please making excuses for this team . Our defense is our demise . We have to out score teams to beat them , simple as that .

As I mentioned in another thread....why wasn't there an emphasis on recruiting more big men the day that Kruger and staff got here? Osby was going to graduate and with M'Baye leaving, we were going to be left very thin in the interior. Thus, we shoud've been trying to stock the cupbaord to avoid the predicament that we are in now. We do have help with Lattin coming, but how much help can you expect from a true Frosh. This was a strategic mistake by the staff and it's hurting us in the postseason now....ugh.

Watch some basketball next year before you post. FYI, NDS shot 35% in the 2nd half so Lon DID get the D fixed we just couldn't hit WIDE OPEN SHOTS

No question our first half defense got us in a big hole. But our defense held them to 29 points in the second half only to self destruct on both ends of the court in OT. But the real reason we did not win is we did not make shots.

We took 21 more FG attempt and made 2 fewer than the Bisons. We shot 40% BTA but only 30.9% ITA having 6 shots blocked. We had fewer TOs, fewer PFs, more assists and won the offensive boards 18-6 but only lost total RBs by 1 which is outstanding when you consider we had 47 missed shots to their 24 missed shots.

While we only missed 5 FTs we missed 3-6 the last two minutes of regulation. If you don't make shots chances are you are going to earn a loss and we did. We got what we earned.

this times 1000 ... we missed tons of shot at the rim .. we were great from 3 .. 40% and terrible from 2 ..

ou lost because of 0 not D

We only gave up 66 points in regulation. Considering the offensive talent we have, we should have won going away in a game in which we only gave up 66 points. Do you know how many other games this season we lost while holding an opponent under 70? One.

The defense wasn't the problem last night. It was missed free throws, turnovers, and 35% shooting from the field that cost us the game.

I think NDSU played very well. Braun didn't have a great game but the rest of the team really played well. I thought Bjorklund was excellent. Lawrence was the player of the game.

While what you said is true, I won't shut up about the missed free throws b/c if we hit them, or atleast one of them, we win the game.

I don't know much about Kruger's past but I've heard from others that he has always coached good defensive teams. That was more of his identity than offense. So that gives me a good feeling going forward atleast

Kruger didn't know that M'Baye was leaving.

We will be good moving forward

As a team we shoot very well from the charity stripe, about as good as you can hope for. Sure we missed a couple free throws but play sound defense and we win walking away . Woodard missed a key free throw but his biggest mistake was basically not even guarding a guy behind the arch down three with 19 seconds left. He didn't even get a hand up until late.
I'm telling you our half court defense is as bad as it gets at times . We have stone feet, never help when we are beat and overall show no passion what so ever defending another team. We have the horse not the desire. Buddy could shut anyone down he wanted , if he was coached to. He should spend less time slapping the court and more time energy moving his feet.
Cousins shows flashes of being a great defender and then loafs or does some stupid foul the next.
Whoever Jordan is guarding is gonna have a career night , his defense is so bad hornbeak might should play 20 minutes a game.
Cam will average 18 a game and give up 25.
Next years team needs a total makeover mentally wise or next season will be the same story
If these guys are truly gym rats then tAke the balls away from them and make them practice some defense.
I wouldn't be so mad if talent was an issue. Cam was never gonna stop someone , but cousins and hield can be ELITE defenders and Jordan could be serviceable .Its all attitude and want to with these guys. Lon needs to put his foot down .
