Although I know the LNC music is loud every year, I think it may have been louder which doesn't make me happy. The real issue that could stop me attending and supporting our team is the bass / sub volume, it's ridiculous, it's ridiculous. Who do I complain to? You probably think I'm a pansy but loud music is good, real loud music not so much, but tooth rattling, chest beating brain bouncing 40hz and lower doesn't bring more fans to LNC.

I'd guess not here... I dunno though.

Sure it's to "create a fun atmosphere" for the players and students...were there students there last night? :facepalm

Wasn't there so I don't have an OP on the situation.

Yes, it seems much louder this year. Kind of fake hype if you ask me, but I'm an "olds" as some of you young whipper snappers like to call us!!! Haha!

Speaking of fake hype...

They were promoting the “Boom Squad” on the broadcast last night. I paused my TV and counted 23 students.

Why even have a basketball team?

I don't know if this is possible, but I feel like it would help if they could modulate the volume levels to match the crowd size. I don't notice it as much when it's packed, but when it's one of those early season games with half the seats empty, it's like an echo chamber.

I also don't know if they still have the same "hype man" that they have for the last few seasons, but I wouldn't mind seeing OU move on from him. I feel like their search criteria for this "job" was "find the person with the most grating voice possible." If so, they succeeded in a big way.

It's only one exhibition and one game into the season but so far what I feared would happen, is happening, in that we took the most consistent and enthusiastic court presence we have, the pep band, and moved them off of the floor into the stands and replaced them with 5 or 10 students standing in bleachers. I still thinks that's a bad move even if we eventually fill it with students in conference play.

We need tarp off the top sections and move everyone to lower half. Hate it but it is what it is.

Did you go? I don't remember the music being that obnoxiously loud but I also had 2 toddlers with me so my hearing has become very selective.

I loved the fact the band was in the stands. They brought all the energy from the student section including leading most cheers when our cheer squad is non-existent. There were quite a few students for such an early season game.

There was a different guy on the mic, I believe the previous guys name is Adrian.

Best part of the whole night was the kid hitting the half court shot for free tuition! The LNC got wild at that moment.

Yep, I’ve been to most every game for the last 25 years. Your post makes my point, why not have the band bringing energy on the floor so the entire arena gets it as in the past? Sadly, you are correct it was a good student attendance, all 75 or so of them. And finally you are again correct, the most exciting thing of the night was a halftime shot instead of a great second half.

As for the sound, I sat lower level for the exhibition and it seemed louder than Tuesday because I was in the upper level. Either way, no problem for me, I was just answering the original question.

wholeheartedly agree. this was my concern as well, moving our best fans away from the floor. the band doesn’t get enough credit for how much energy they breathe into our games. because students are virtually non existent.

and yes it’s too loud, its like a freaking club in there and most of our fans are 50+. but here’s my official complaint, it’s too damned cold in that arena. holy ****. i hear it from multiple people. it was literally colder in the LNC tuesday than it was outside. i wore a tshirt, and was livid at myself for forgetting my hoodie, because I knew I would be shivering by halftime.

outside of the product inside that 94 by 50 rectangle, it is not a very fun environment right now to watch something i love so dearly.
