Polla

If he can develop some inside offensive moves and learn to move his feet on D he will be trouble for a lot of opponents. He obviously needs this even more than Lattin and McNeace because he lacks their athleticism.

inside offensive moves? have you seen him play??

No. I’ve never even heard of him? How about you? And why isn’t he starting??!!!

Sorry , but I don’t care if he was true 7 footer ......He looks like a 40 year old rolling straight out of bed to play in a basketball game . Stiff doesnt do it justice .
Kruger is a great coach but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made some mistakes in the past scholarship wise .
I Guess what I’m saying is that I don’t expect polla or freeman to finish their careers at Ou.

I wasn't trying to be mean. I am sorry if it sounded that way. I watched his games for the Euro team he was on. He's actually got some basketball moves. Once he feels a little more comfortable I think people will be rather surprised. He's not starting because he IS a bit of a stiff compared to Lattin and McNease. He wont turn into an athletic gazelle or anything, but he's a kinda guy you can dump a ball down into in the post knowing he has some classic post moves to score. I really think he will shine in a support role.

Polla logged six rebounds (three offensive) in four minutes.

What’s not to like about that?

I love the way he keeps the ball up high, too. It takes a lot of players so long to learn that.

HE has never tried to score over his right shoulder and posters on this board have better post moves than him. His classic post move is to dribble right handed. He is stiffer than some dead people. Chagrois is 6'9 barefooted, so most programs would list him at 6'10 but SMU doesn't measure in shoes like OU does. He is a different player because he can shoot and has offensive skills. Polla is probably a good guy but a complete stiff in bball.

Polla is good enough to play Div I basketball on a top 15 collegiate team in the USA and get minutes, as he has demonstrated, this is true. All time great NCAA program Kansas University fields a center who, although very athletic, cannot make a free throw. Perhaps you would be happier following the NBA.

then go root for SMU and leave the OU board alone. these kids deserve more than the tripe you want to post about them.

You do realize that every time he has a good game (and like it or not he will have some), posters are going to shove this quote in your face.

I wish you were OU's recruiting coordinator!

That was my original point. He has so much upside. If he can develop some better inside offense to take advantage of his size and strength he could be a difference maker. The ability to turn over either shoulder and shield his defender, with the proper footwork, and the ability to finish at the rim are skills we have not had in quite some time.

Chargois and Polla isn't the comparison but Chargois and Manek. Which would you prefer?

Yep. We have a number of stretch 4s in manek, doo, freeman. Chargois looks like a good player but polla didn’t take his scholarship.

I understand you may feel this way, but you could have polished your delivery to try and attempt to make some semblance of an effective argument. However, the way you phrased it (complete stiff), brace yourself for the fallout.

He might also not rush to judge a foreign player in his first season as a Sooner and in a new country -- that's a lot of adjustments to make in one's life. Very few players, foreign or domestic, are finished products as freshmen.

Sitting back and watching a player progress is something of a lost pleasure. Too many fans insist on instant results and if they don't see them, they rush to write the player off.

Sorry guys but he is too slow and can not score even after he tries to back his defender down dribbling and shooting over his left shoulder. We took him over Chagrois from Union who is averaging 12 points a game and shooting 42% on threes and 70% at the free throw line. I am glad some of you like how he cheers on the bench. That is where he belongs. How long until he transfers to a D-2 school.

Maybe you could find a D-2 message board?

I hope he does well and I get called out after each game that he helps us win but I don't look for him to play more than two minutes a half at the most unless there is foul trouble. I compare Polla to Chagrois because they both play the 5. Manek is a stretch 4. They told Chagrois he wasn't explosive enough. Polla can't guard a dead man and he is a very slow jumper. Which game this year Trae gave Polla a perfect pass and no defenders in the lane and Polla got his shot blocked and the tv announcer said he isn't ready to play? Sorry guys I just don't think he is very good and is a project. No need to look for a bridge to jump off.
