Guy is the best prospect in this draft and it's not even close. He's huge at 7'3" extremely athletic and extraordinarily skilled. He tossed in unstoppable jump hooks with each hand last night that looked like Kareem. Then he takes people off the dribble from the 3 point line and has a butter smooth stroke like Dirk/KD from the perimeter. He altered shots on defense with ease.

He looked impressive as heck in his workout but that was without any defenders. The defenders didn't make much difference. Guy looks just as dominant. He might be skinny but it's like wirey steel.

Agree, best prospect in the draft.

Most interesting rookies this year:

  • Kristaps Porzingis
  • Mario Hezonja
  • Jahlil Okafor
  • Myles Turner

Sorry, but this post is disgustingly hyperbolic. I'll admit that I've yet to watch him live, but I've seen highlights, and he doesn't look extremely athletic, and I don't see him taking any NBA players off the dribble. He doesn't have Dirk or KD's stroke, either.

He shows some promise, which is why he went #4, but he's nowhere near the prospect Towns is. If I were the Wolves GM, I wouldn't even give up Towns if I was offered Porzingis and Russell both.

Perhaps if you said biggest project instead of best prospect, I would have agreed, but I think we all agreed with that since before the draft.

Against Okafor, Porzingis easily wins the opening tip, gets the ball by the 3 pt line against Oklafor, does a jab step and swishes in a 20 footer, goes to the other end and Okafor guards Okafor in the paint, cuts off his drive the the basket by beating him to the baseline forcing him to throw it back out.

Sure he needs to add strength but he's wildly athletic and skilled for his size which is HUGE.

I wanted the C's to get Myles Turner, they just couldn't trade up. He was completely wasted by Barnes.

Presti is one of the best in the business when it comes to the draft, and he really wanted Porzingis last year.

Seeing as he picked at #14, I think he'd have been happy with any of the top 5 guys.

I don't see anything Towns does better than Porzingis. He's smaller, less athletic and materially less skilled. Porzingis ceiling is through the roof. He fell to 4th because the GMs of the first 3 picks are under pressure. Dirk was taken 8th, Kobe was taken 13th. That's because they were doing something original. Kobe was a guard making the jump right out of high school and Dirk was a skinny 7 foot jump shooter. Porzingis is a player nobody has seen before. A Kareem/Dirk/KD hybrid with a nasty streak.

Jackson said after the draft his most trusted scout told him 6 months ago Porzingis was a once in a lifetime pick.

I suppose Russell is Magic with a side of Steph Curry, and Karl Towns is Anthony Davis with a little bit of Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.

Saw a lot of film of Porzingis prior to the draft and he certainly looked like the real deal. Of course that was against EUro competition but it's good to see him doing it in the summer league also. I think he's a steal.

Nobody is saying those silly things though. James Worthy already echoed the Dirk/KD portion of my comparison which is easy to understand when you watch his stroke and handles for his size. The thing people are missing is the Kareem angle which is even more impressive. His touch in the paint with either hand is incredible and he towers over people. He blocked Okafor 3 times, dished out 3 assists and had a steal in just 20 minutes yesterday. They are hardly playing him and he leads summer league in blocks. When you watch how easily he wins the opening tip you realize how huge he is. He stands out like a sore thumb. A coordinated perimeter skilled aggressive Shawn Bradley who moves like a deer.

Once he figures out the speed, etc, he should be very interesting to watch. You can't block his shot, and you can't shoot over him. He is going to alter basically every shot that comes his way. 7'6'' wingpsan and athletic.

This was last year. Presti wanted Porzingis bad, but Porzingis withdrew from the draft and entered this year.

We hear this every year or two. These high European picks haven't panned out since Dirk and Pau, though.

Also, Phil is a great coach, but he's not a great GM.
