Power Forwards Workout Video is up

Nick had a little trouble backing his man down, but showed a nice stroke. Nick and Kyle held to lay-ups on the paint drill while Osby explodes for a dunks. Thanks for the link!

We are prob def goign to struggle at PF. The best looking guy cannot even play this year. Nick does not look very aggressive, so I dont expect much rebounding from him....he looked much more comfortable shooting jumpers....

My prediction this year is cj and fitz startign together with nick coming off teh bench to give a different look

Yeah because it's easy to determine the full extent of a player's ability from a brief workout video. LOL

Your right...but from the video I have seen and that short video Nick doesnt look like an aggressive rim attacker....I dont think he will rebound much...guess we will see

He may have looked a little weak in that video, but that will change. You can rest assured that our coaches will preach rebounding to everyone on the floor this year. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

Thompson played away from the basket in JC. He's not a back to the basket player. We are going to be spread the floor jump shooting team when he is playing

You can get a pretty solid representation of a players abilities through individual workouts like that....if a guy will not explode and be aggressive against a pad, he isnt going to against a player either...

He does have a nice stroke, that's for sure...

That workout looked pretty timid to me, only drill that really pushed them was the last one...

Apparently the folks on this board know more than the coaches do about talent. Maybe Capel should check with the board before he signs players in the future.

Isn't he doing that already?
I'm sure this board is consulted prior to any major decisions.

We are, and capel is fully aware that Thompson is not a natural rebounder

Other than Hardrick, who is not a D1 player, i think Capel has brought in some very nice talent...

I dont know why you are offended that others comment on talent, i would bet he would assess some of his players very similiar to what you read on here...

There are some very educated basketball fans on this board that can spot talent and do it without much film...

This year he had a very limited time to get players in and i think he did an excellent job doing so...hopefully they will mesh on the court and show they can compete and win games at this level....

Thompson's biggest asset is his skill set and ability to create mismatches. I'm a little worried about how he will bang down low but at least he something you can't teach to help him out down there, height. He just needs to continue to work hard and gain weight to play down low defensively. I hope he does it and if he does I think he'll see the court a lot this year.

Also Osby looks every bit athletically the top 50 national recruit out of high school. This season could be big for him putting it together and could really shock some people in 2011-12.

+1
I think he is very talented. He could be potentially our best 4 for capel. If we can sign a really good Center, we would have a good set of downlow guys...osby, fitz, center recruit, washington...this would allow thompson to be a floater

Hopefully my comments were not prercieved as degrading any of our players. You just have to look at Nick and realize that he is probably not going to be a banger down low, but that jumpshot is outstanding.
