Young Allonzo Trier has been taking the state of Oklahoma by storm this high school season as the 8th grader has routinely scored 20+ against older competition.

William Jennings recently caught up with the talented young man for an interview and also previews the future stars of the Oklahoma scene with 2014 and 2015 prospects.

Allonzo was a very mature young man. Really mature beyond his years. There was some mystery as to whether Athletes First would build a team around Allonzo's age group or if he would play with the 17u division. In this interview he cleared that question up.

Other notable players that are really impressive to me were Omega Harris, at Midwest City. As a freshman he has come in and taken over the starting pg position. I saw him play this weekend and he was outstanding. Adrion Williams at Piedmont has the potential to be a high major recruit with more improvement. At NW Classen, Keandre Nelson is really playing good basketball as well. It will be interesting to see how these youngsters develop through the years.

I didn't think the home school team was a part the OSSAA. Why would they intervene?

But when they play OSSAA competition within Oklahoma, they have to be compliant for the game to count...I believe that is the rule.

Stupid situation anyway, in New Mexico you can play varsity as an eigth grader with a waiver from the NMAA (New Mexico's equivalent to the OSSAA).

you are correct on the rule.

Not sure its stupid. Similar to college... You have 4 yrs to play, not 5. I know you can redshirt, but you cant in HS.

My guess is that he would play homeschool and then play 4 years of high school ball probably at PCO. Still don't understand how OSSAA can permit him from playing. Can they just not make the games he played in count for the teams he played against?

I suspect an 8th grader lighting up OSSAA teams didn't sit to well with them. They have ruled faster on kids than this. It wasn't a big deal til all the press came.

Does this now mean Holland Hall is ineligible because they have 5th year players? Also, Oklahoma secondary schools have played 5th year programs like God's Academy and other prep schools. What's going to be the ruling going forth on that?

Union has two more 9th graders to watch other than Sims.

Carson Meier 6'6
Jeff Mean 6'5/6'6. Growing so much not sure right now.

Both are expected to be around 6'8 to 6'9 with the ability to move and not just be post up player.

It's a stupid rule. First he's home schooled, so he has no affiliation. If OSSAA teams want to schedule a team with players who are younger, then let them. Secondly, the rule in its original state was created to allow small schools to field teams in general if they were short in numbers.

What are we protecting him from? Who is offended if he is allowed to play?

Thanks for the input. I've respected your knowledge on the Tulsa side of the state. Can you let me know about some other kids, Marquis Fowler of Glenpool, Stephen Parker of Jenks, and Alex Barton.

If they want these games to count on their record. An 8th grader isnt allowed to play. So thats why he isnt eligible, againist other ossaa members schools, such as VC, Star, Etc...

The NCAA has a lot of dumb rules as well.

I coach on the tulsa side of the state. I will see Glenpool soon, so I will let you know what he does in the next week or so. Heard he is pretty raw. They play okmulgee tonight.

Why would you use the NCAA as a barometer? There are no amateurism issues involved here. The rule is dumb, at least offer a waiver to allow the kid a petition to play.

No one is winning here, he dominates inferior competition at his age group and other high schools don't have the opportunity to play higher competition if they choose to do so.

Why is there a rule you can only play 4 yrs of college athletics? The same rule applies to HS. Rules are Rules... I didnt make them!

I have not seen Fowler of Glenpool so I can not say.

Stephen Parker of Jenks is a nice player. I didn't realize hew as only a freshman since he was playing JV. I mean that as a compliment because I figured he was either a soph or a junior. He had a good JV game against Sims and gave him some issues guarding him in the half court set.

He shoots the ball well enough you have to stay close. He is going to be a good one for Coach Martin.

I can tell you quite a bit more about the class of 2014 from Union and Jenks. First of all, the Freshman class from Union is loaded.

The Meier kid is 6-6 and has great footwork for a big man. Once he matures more and develops his strength, he will be tough to stop.

The Mead kid is around 6-5 I'm guessing. He's been hurt most of the basketball season and just starting to play. His wingspan is probably 6-10. Pretty raw in basketball fundamentals and a three sport athlete. Best sport might actually be football (QB or wide out).

The Barton kid is about 6-0 and might be the best perimeter shooter in all of Tulsa for the 2014 class. From watching the Union games and summer ball, his range is well beyond the three point line and if left open will make teams pay. I think he must get stronger and work on footspeed.

The Sims kid is athletic and one of those players who can get to the rim almost anytime he wants. He must also get stronger and learn to finish at the rim. Also must learn passing angles better to feed post players.

Aside from Sims, I think all those Union kids are still growing too. I'm probably overly critical of these Union kids, but its hard to remember they are just Freshmen. There are another 4-5 players in the Union Freshmen class that are also very good.

Jenks has the Parker kid and his is just as described in a previous post. He can be as good as he wants to be with hard work. There is another good Freshman at Jenks named Matthias (don't know his last name) and although only around 5-9, the kid is flat out athletic and has great court vision. He is a three sport athlete and I heard his best sport is baseball.

I've heard Owasso has the younger brother of the QB there who is about 6-5 and a solid player on the court. Sapulpa also has a strong Freshman class with the Johnson and Davis kid. I haven't seen them play this year but saw the Johnson kid in summer ball and he's a tough player.

Fowler isnt ready for D1 talk. Avg 9th grader, with good size, maybe 6'3... Pretty Slow, not a scorer or defender...
