I put together a little preview of Edmond Santa Fe vs Edmond Memorial tomorrow along with highlighting some other games and players this weekend.

Prep Spotlight

Can't wait for this game. Any word on if Shaq Morris will play or has been playing recently?

Talked with William J after I posted this and he told me that Shaq is back.

I watched Forgan tonight. The twins are salty especially the point guard (#3). I was impressed with their athleticism. Both can really jump.

Is there anyone 6A that can challenge the big 3 of the West?

Memorial, MWC, Santa Fe???

My guesses would be PC and Mustang but I haven't seen any of the East side this year. Mustang may not have as much talent as the Big 3 bit they play so well together as a team. It wouldn't surprise me to see them take down the loser of Santa Fe-Memorial Saturday if they get past Lawton.

PC has some good talent in Raney and Lewis as SRs, if they both get hot I could see them making some news. Even their little sophomore guard David Bush isn't a bad option.

Sam, being in Texas, I don't pay as much attention to Okie HS bball anymore...Is there any teams on the east (Tulsa area) that are contenders? I'd guess BTW but has the Seals DUI affected them? Anything out east newsworthy heading into the playoffs?

I don't have much first hand knowldge on the East Side of the state, only two teams I've seen in person this year are Booker T and East Central (tournament of champions).

In 6A based on what I've read Union is playing really well together even though they are young. Muskogee is going to have to win two this weekend to advance if I remember correctly but they're dangerous as their guard Wilson can go off for 30+ vs anybody.

In 5A Washington is still the favorite for me, especially if the Nino Jackson ineligible stories are true. Tulsa Central with Reevey Noron could make a run too.

In 4A its Douglass and everyone else. If someone pulls off the upset it would be amazing but I don't see it.

I don't think anyone has the horses to stay with Douglass in 4A.

True, but i think they still have enough to win one game this weekend and hopefully get him back for the State tourney....

Even with him i dont know if they can win it all though...

Where is the State tourney this year for 5A?

I have heard Nino will not be playing this weekend

He isnt...i was right the first time when i originally announced it on Monday...i just had second thoughts when a friend questioned me on it...

Let's get it on. It's gonna be a battle and it's fun watching these kids go 110 percent and lay it all on the line every play.

Good to hear Shaq Morris is back. He didn't play in the only SF game I've been too (vs Memorial). Should be a good one tonight.

Here are the scores from tonight

Couple of things that stand out to me.
Mustang vs Santa Fe is going to be a hard fought game tomorrow. They're playing tomorrow with winner goes to state and losers goes home. Mustang beat them in February. Should be a great game.

Little surprised to see Muskogee go out, also them losing to PC North locks up 5 West side teams in state.

Great win by Ardmore tonight over Bishop McGuiness, anybody know if Nino played?

Booker T looks like the favorite in 5A, especially after the way they destroyed Memorial tonight. Don't know if Memorial is any good but a win that big with only 16 teams left is still strong.

Similar to Muskogee, little surprised to see NW Classen so out at this stage as well. Heard some good things about them and was hoping to get a first hand look at state,

I attended the Bixby vs Stillwater game at Sapulpa tonight.

Stillwater led most of the game behind an aggressive defense and an attack the basketball on clear-outs philosophy in the halfcourt. They got the lead close to double digits several times including in the fourth quarter. Bixby did just enough to hang around by using the long ball and by the aggressive play of Jacob Parker down low (no relation!).

Awesome ending saw Parker hitting a midrange jumper from just inside the arc as time expired to give Bixby a one point win! The ball literally hung on the rim for what seemed like seconds before rolling in.

A couple of decent prospects in this one:

2011 - Jacob Parker looks to be around 6-4 and is a guy who can bang down low and play a bit on the perimeter. He has a nice build and and good looking jumper.

2012, PG/Combo Guard - Jacob Bittle looked around 6-1 with nice handles and a smooth looking stroke. He is a crafty scorer who used a variety of step back moves and pushoffs to gain space in order to launch 3s.

2012, Center - Sean Young looks to be around 6-9. Very raw but made a couple of nice post moves including using his weak hand (left).

Great game overall.
