TULSA — No. 1 Putnam West lives another day.
The Patriots, the Class 6A favorite, survived a scare from No. 10 Bixby, rallying in the fourth quarter for a 49-41 victory in a Class 6A girls basketball state quarterfinal Thursday night at Tulsa Memorial High School.
Bixby had rallied from an early 14-point deficit to eventually take a 44-41 lead entering the fourth quarter. But Putnam West’s Megan McAlpin converted a three-point play to ignite a dormant Putnam West offense.
Ninety seconds later, Putnam West’s Ce’Nara Skanes made a short jumper to take the lead for good.
Putnam West (23-3) plays Choctaw, the lone team in state to top the Patriots, at noon Friday at the Mabee Center.
